Hi Ralph,

Sorry if this has been covered, and if so, please feel free to just send me to the thread where it is discussed. I tried to search the forums, but I can't make sense of the results I'm getting back.

I have a dozen or so songs that all use the older Jamstix 3 that was able to subhost. Superior Drummer, in my case.

I want to move to 3.5, but I don't want to lose any of my subhosted VSTi's settings because in some cases, I used the built in mixer and FX in Superior Drummer.

What is the best end to end process for me to follow for each song to ensure that SD is still set up the same way it was when it was subhosted, and Jamstix still feeds it all the same notes. Basically, I need to end up with the project sounding 100% identical when I'm done. Note for note identical.

...or maybe I'm out of the loop and subhosting is coming back in an upcoming version? If that's the case, I'll just wait.

Thanks!

Edit: PS - While I've got you ear, Ralph...

The 3.3.0 manual says "What’s more, you can even combine Jamstix sounds and a sub-hosted drum module to form a mixed kit that can be saved and recalled with a few mouse clicks. For example, you can add Jamstix cymbals and percussion sounds to an EZDrummer™ kit. Imagine the possibilities!"

So, I've done this with subhosting in the past, specifically I've used SD for most of the kit, but I've used JS for shakers and a tambourine. If we can't subhost anymore, how would we do this (it's on topic because the song I am talking about will have to be modified for 3.5).

Thanks again.

Do this for every Jamstix/SD project:

- click "Save Song" in JS3 menu to save a good backup of the whole JS3.3 data set for the song
- open SD from Jamstix and use its GUI to save the SD settings to its file

When done, you can upgrade to JS 3.5 and do this in each song:

- load SD in to host
- load saved SD settings into SD
- route MIDI out from Jamstix to SD

Combining JS and SD sounds in JS 3.5.1 Beta 3 works like this:

- given a SD kit in JS, load JS sounds into kit pieces as needed
- check 'No MIDI Output For Internal Sounds' in the JS kit menu
