|
|
Just downloaded and setup Jamstix on my Windows 7 Professional version 64bit system this morning
I have the 64bit dll in a Calkwalk vstplugins folder together with the license key file.
I’m using Sonar 8.5 and loaded Jamstix as a synth. When loaded I get the Jamstix screen and when click on the Kit and click each parts of the drum kit they all respond with a sound.
However following the “Quick start” video when I click on a quickstart song like 12 Bar Blues and then click on the lock-unlock button I don’t get any response it won’t play as shown in the video. I’m now stuck! How do I get it to play?
Note: I have loaded all of the files using PakInst |

| Hit the transport "Play" button in Sonar. The lock/unlock button only starts and stops Jamstix if the DAW is already running. |

Andre, I think he has a valid authentication so that must all be correct. All there is to do is using SONAR Play/Stop.
Frank, if SONAR does not play an empty project, there is an option in SONAR somewhere to toggle that off. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks Guys. I haven't had a chance to go back to it but the only way previously that I could get it to play was clicking on the loop arrow and it would play a bar selected. I now understand Sonar being active plays a part.
I think what your indicating should be in Quickstart video cause while its obvious to users its not to a green jamstix novice like myself even though I've been running nearly all of East West stuff for some years.
It looks like a great program.

Not foolproof yet guys.
Loaded a piano boogie sequence in Sonar. Loaded Jamstix and loaded the 12 Bar blues demo song . Started play in Sonar and all works well. I repeated this several times and no problems. Saved it as “Jam7” in Sonar. Tried things again and it works OK. Then loaded another song demo and Jamstix and the Comp locks up as soon as I do this (On “Jamcussion – Funky”). If I do a log off then try to load Sonar my audio devices are locked out. Therefore had to do a Windows restart boot to get things back to normal.
I then started Sonar again and loaded “jam7”. This worked again OK. Tried the same procedure as above. Replacing with a couple of demo songs worked OK !! but failed and locked up on “Standard Song”. Seems unpredictable at present.
Any comments?? Regards. |

It now seems Jamstix doesn’t necessarily lock - its location in Sonar is frozen and it wont move and Sonar wont playback. When Sonar is locked Jamstix can (sometimes) play back in loop mode and I can change the demo song. Just changed the song to Motown and now I can play Sonar again ?. So it seems that Sonar objects to certain songs? But after a couple of demo songs previously loaded it says the kit is loaded but its not playing all the parts. So that’s it. It’s all very unstable at present and unpredictable.
I have tried to find workarounds but the bugs keep changing their “colour” and its hard to pin down a proper sequence. Maybe even the movement of the mouse might be involved ?
My EW packages work without fault on the same system.

Thanks have just sent files via email.
Final test indicate it is related to the loading of the demo examples. This can (but not always) lock Sonar and any movement of the Jamstix interface window although individual buttons on the interface (e.g. the Wizard) work OK and can with several attempts release the locked mode with several trials of loading different demos.

OK Did as you instructed in your email.
I clicked on the JAMSTIX and it says 3.5.1 Beta 3 (64 bit)
Unclicked ‘Load on Demand’
Tried several Demo songs about 4 and then Sonar locks and I cannot get it to play my little piano midi piece. Tried another jamstix Wizard selection and it was OK several times but then got another lock.
At one point when loading got an Access violation message.
So again its something apparently random in the loading process. Its not always the same song either?

PS: I have Sonar 8.5 Producer (8.5.2.222) |

Very odd. Please send me the latest rzdlog file and also tell me your ASIO driver and sound card. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Just before I send the log.
I’m doing the test with the East-West Synth running ‘Goliath’ in this instance also with the necessary iLok key in the computer USB slot. I’m driving a Roland UA-4FX audio interface set to ASIO that is connected via a USB cable.
As I mentioned I’ve been using many East-West packages on this comp in this setup for a number of years and never have had a fault turn up.
Tried Turning the EW Synth off but same problem. A lockup on an unpredictable demo song and that was the case for a few demos and then one demo at random will release the Sonar play lock. I agree - most odd |

No Sonar Lock BUT...
OK Tried something different. Instead of clicking on the Wizard button and double clicking the demo I just clicked the down arrow on the LHS of the Wizard button. This brings up a menu with the first entry “Load Song”. When I click this a Windows 7 file menu comes up listing all of the J2D song files. If I click on a particular song it loads. Using this method no song ever locks Sonar BUT I have gotten an “Access error violation” for a particular file and things can go downhill from then on. For example a song might load but not all the drum parts play or the drum part screen is blank but the song might still play. At that point I have to exit and reload.
But at least this method does not apparently lock Sonar’s playback !! |
