Hi Ralph,
Have you got any idea if this issue has been solved in the new Sonar 5 which is supposed to have native VST support.
Or any of the other VST vrapper issues for that matter?
Thanks

Not sure what the issue is. Jamstix MIDI automation envelopes work in Sonar 4 with the CW VST wrapper. Just select NRPN.
Let me know if I misunderstood you. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Got it now. Sorry I didn't catch on right away!
The issues you are referencing are mostly DirectiXer issues, which we notified Tonewise about.
We do not have specific information on the Sonar 5 VST implementation but will test JS with it as soon as it is available to us. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph,
By the way, I've encountered the same automation problem with each of the following configurations:
SONAR -> DirectiXer -> Jamstix -> BFD
SONAR -> Cakewalk VST Adapter -> energyXT -> ( Jamstix --MIDI out--> BFD )
SONAR -> Cakewalk VST Adapter -> FL Studio VSTi -> ( Jamstix --MIDI out--> BFD ) [this one has problems only on bounce/freeze]
However, the following combinations have no problems with automation and very tight timing:
SONAR -> Cakewalk VST Adapter -> Jamstix -> BFD
SONAR -> FL Studio DXi -> ( Jamstix --MIDI out--> BFD )
The parentheses in the above indicate that Jamstix and BFD are both hosted independently inside the parent plugin, which is either energyXT or FL Studio. The MIDI out from Jamstix to BFD in those cases is happening internally to that parent plugin, as is mixing and effects processing, and only stereo audio is being fed back to SONAR. |

Ralph,
Partly because of this problem, I was thinking that it might be useful for a future version of Jamstix to allow some internal method of automating parameters within the arrangement. Besides solving this problem, it would also have the advantage of keeping all data that affects the drum performance together as part of the arrangement.
