I am having trouble get certain elements of my “Intro” to work.

I created a simple song in the Song Wizard (the parts are IVC). For the intro, I set the Grove to Style = Hats and I unchecked the "Last bar only") box. So far so good, I get 2 bars of hats with a fill at the end of bar 2.

But when I activate additional brain elements, they don’t seem to do anything. For example, in the Accent section of the brain, the “Cymbals” and “Throw-Ins” controls don’t change the intro at all when I adjust them. I have tried turning those elements up to maximum; adding priority and power controls for those elements (and turning priority and power up to maximum); changing drummers and styles. Nothing seems to work.

It seems that those controls must be there for a reason -- I'm just not sure why I can't get them to do anything. What am I overlooking???
