| Quote: | Hi -
I consistently get a crash when I open Cubase 6.5 projects, open JS3, load a song that I've created in the past (multiple song parts, grooves/fills/accents composed), and then try to change the Style. The following following message appears:
| Quote: | | Access violation at address in module 42DB8420 "jamstix3.dll". Write of address 00000004 |
(The module # varies with each try, but the address doesn't; sometimes another message says I'm out of memory).
Interestingly, changing the Drummer under the same circumstances is never a problem.
I don't think it's a complicated song, but I have three or four tempo changes and I've created 15 or so JS3 song Parts.
I do have a workaround (bounce everything down to 1 audio track in a new project, import the MIDI and Marker tracks; then changing the Style usually works OK without crashes).
I figure this is just a system problem, but I'm posting just in case there's a way to load a new Style that does not use so many resources. Or maybe there's a little patch/fix out there?
Thanks much -
P.S. I just had a crazy idea - maybe working in SX3 would be better, at least as far as JS3, since it uses less resources ... then when it's good, bring everything back to C6.5 again. I'm going to give it a go a little later ... |
EDIT: Button pushing frenzy for an hour or two ... GOT IT!! For reference, the problem was that a large JS3 song with many parts (21 in my case) crashed every time I tried to choose a new Style.
For future reference, and anyone else who comes along with a similar problem, they way I made it work was:
1) Open up the big DAW project.
2) If JS3 is open/active/loaded in the project - UNLOAD IT.
3) Now, RE-open JS3. It opens with a 1 part song as a default.
4) In that little default JS3 song, choose the desired style/drummer in the usual fashion, then right click on the PART and "Copy Style and Drummer".
5) Now open the big old JS3 song with 15 or 20 or 100 JS3 song parts, the one that kept crashing when you tried to change the Style of the song.
6) Right-click on the 1st part of that big JS3 song (first part ONLY!), and choose "PASTE Style and Drummer". Now that 1st part has the desired style and drummer, but the others still have the original style and drummer you were trying to change.
7) Now, right-click again on the FIRST part, and choose "Copy Style to All Parts", then "Copy Drummer to All Parts".
And now the whole JS3 song, with oodles of parts, has the changed/desired Style and drummer in there!
At first I thought maybe too many parts was too hard for my computer to change all the Styles of at one go, but on reflection I don't think that's it, because all it took was the 1st part to be changed for the process to be kick-started for all the other parts.
Hope this helps someone, and thanks! _________________ Alexis
