|
|
I just bought everything (YAY!), installed it according to the email instructions including the upgrade to 3.3. I wanted to fire up JS in Cubase 6.5 (64-bit):
I bring up the VST Instruments window (F11)
Insert JS 3.3 in slot 1 and ensure that Downmix is checked on the Mixer tab
Instruct Cubase to create an associated MIDI track (no particular reason for doing this)
Click on Create Song in the Wizard interface using the defaults (James Stix, 8th Rock, Standard kit, etc.)
Click on the play button in the Cubase transport window
The brain shows that every drum hit is canceled (via the red X)
Worse, if I click on the Kit tab and randomly click on the drum elements no sound is produced. |

If you move your mouse over the red-crossed events you will see a message in the status line. My guess is that the sound files are missing. Did you install the Paks? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I didn't realize that the tooltip will provide additional information. I will reproduce tonight.
As far as the paks go, I installed everything in the order it was listed in the download email.
Stay tuned for an update. |

I'm getting "No Kit Piece" in the tooltip. But it's not a sample missing issue. Here's what I did.
1. Load up Cubase
2. Add JS3.3 to the VST Rack
3. Manually select Custom Rock, Peter, and Standard kit
4. Adjust the settings for Steely Dan per the thread on emulating classic sounds
5. Press Play in the Cubase transporter
Everything is fine up to this point. So I press Stop.
1. Display the Wizard panel
2. Select Metal - John
3. Press Create Song
4. Press Play in the Cubase transporter
The kit is still Standard, which was just prior to this playing fine. However, now I'm getting all red X's and the No Kit Piece message.
Thoughts? |

When you say 'Metal-John', do you mean you double-clicked on that quickstart song? If so, there is no need to hit 'Create Song'. Double-clicking a quickstart song loads a full arrangement. Just click 'Play' in Cubase and tell me if it works. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

You are correct. I didn't realize that double-clicking actually created the song as well.
I'll give this a try later. |

If I bring down the context menu in the songsheet and select Clear Song, I get a window that says an Access Violation occurred. |

It works.
Why is the Create Song button resulting in this behavior? |

I think the songbuilder defaults stored in the 'Metal - John' song are incorrect. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

No, I think it's an issue in that quickstart song. When this happens to you, select a drummer, style and kit in songbuilder manually to avoid the problem, instead of using the defaults. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
