|
|
Trying to record MIDI tracks in Reaper4 64-bit with no luck. All other functionality seems to be fine. No problem with other VSTi MIDI recording concurrently with JS3. Audio is fine. Checked all settings I know to check.
Please advise some possibilities to try. I want to be able to record JS3 MIDI Song tracks to play other virtual drums samples (but not in the subhosting mode).
Thanks,

Read user manual to p54 (16.2 MIDI Drag-&-Drop. Did so with a Saved Song and MIDI Song appears as expected. Not sure why no MIDI is being received as the Song is playing. Now reading 16.1 MIDI output to host to see if that may provide an answer.
(edit) .. gotta be a 'setting'? cuz I turned off Normal Jam and Axiom Pro61 pads play Kit, as well as recording on Reaper track set up earlier. No clue what I'm missing to get JS3 Songs MIDI to output to same Reaper 4 track. (edit)

Make sure you have Record: Output (MIDI) checked on the REAPER track. Works for me here. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thank-you ! Had tried every other 'Record" mode on each track thinking a MIDI Input choice would work. Still trying to learn how I can record each separate JS3 Kit part MIDI to be able to drive other plugin Kits element by element.
Regards,

Consistently recording Reaper MIDI on Jamstix 3 track, but sending MIDI to 8 new tracks and no MIDI getting recorded for the Kit parts.
Tried Record: Output MIDI .... no output. Then Record Input MIDI .... nothing gets recorded. Seems as though Jamstix 3 is not outputting MIDI on a multitrack basis. Must be a Setting I'm missing ??

Painfully slow progress. Now getting Jamstix 3 MIDI recorded on all 8 Reaper MIDI tracks (geeez .. shouldn't be a big deal but I'd swear some previous settings changed) , at least something showing up as recorded.
Only thought now is to go back and route MIDI from each JS3 Out 1-8 to corresponding MIDI 1-8 created earlier. That should provide individual Kit piece MIDI on each active track ..... right ?

When set up for Multitrack output, Does JS3 Out 1 get MIDI Track 1, JS3 Out2 get MIDI Track2, etc.??
Going back to the User manual and video tutorials but do not recall where this is covered.

Each kit piece in JS3 has a MIDI channel assigned, which you can change in the kit editor to split MIDI in REAPER. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Glad to see some help on a Saturday ! (seriously) Checking user manual, I don't find anything on 'Kit Editor' and right clicking doesn't do much either. Likely my issue, but need more detail.

If 'Kit Editing' is left clicking on a kit piece, going down to the lower section and changing the 'CHANNEL' + or - , then I can do that ...... not particularly intuitive. I will try it while waiting for confirmation, and hope for positive results.
(tried setting MIDI channels based on manual hits and Reaper track audio responses, but no MIDI response. What Reaper settings make this work to record Kit pieces on separate MIDI channels?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Some progress, but far from understanding useful process for future MIDI input to StylusRMX, EZD, et al ....
