|
|
Hi - First of all: Jamstix is the most creative drum tool I've ever seen! Just what I've been looking for. I AM a creative musician, but cant play drums.
I am curious on how people use Jamstix when working in Alive.
When I drag Jamstix into Ableton, it appears as its own "instrument" - which means it has a clip slot for every scene. In my understanding that means I can not change style/drummer for each scene - which I would like.
On way I wish to work with Jamstix is to drag it into my Ableton as a listening player - which works very fine. But like other expencive studio musicians - I'd like to throw him out when he is done - but after leaving his brilliant drumming in my DAW. And I like him to play different styles to my different song part/scenes.
Some questions I am trying to find answers to:
- Is there other clever ways of activating/routing input to Jamstix than having him as a seperate instrument?
- Do you have an idea on how to route one single clip as input to Jamstix while listening to the whole scene?
- How do you capture a good part and preserve it as a midiclip for later editing?
- How do you change style/drummer for different scenes in Ableton?
- Do you have a clever/quick way of getting Jamstix's mididata directly into the drum pattern of a drumkit i Ableton on the fly?
- Do you have a quick and clever way of copying a drum set (mapping) into Ableton?
Well - Let us share the good ideas here!
Best regards

| you could get jamstix to play the full song in the arrangement window and then try to create clips from there. |
