Hi Ralph. I have recently had to re-install JS and found that after loading it in Cubase it doesn't seem to have registered it properly as the JS license is still in the VST plug-in folder. When I originally installed JS I noted a screen that showed me my lisence details and told me the license would be deleted for security purposes, but after re-installing JS I haven't seen this screen but it does say that I am registered in the About tab. Does this mean JS has installed properly or not?
I have also found that I get glitches and pops and CPU overloads even though I only have JS and 2 stereo audio tracks in the project, and my SX CPU meter is showing about 10-15% usage. Have also had a few problems getting JS to write midi to track and the computer completely freezes when I try to manually select a midi track and record JS to it rather than using the export midi button within JS. (the midi ins and outs are correctly configured and JS is set to output midi). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Lastly, what is the best way to convert a JS track into an audio file in SX?
Also, I'm sure you're fed up answering this but any more info on Jambace or the Jazz pak add on? Prices estimated release? Love Jamstix and can't wait to expand it!
Many Thanks, Greg Dean.

The license file is there because even though you reinstalled JS, the actual license was still active on your system. You can safely delete it.

My guess would be ASIO drivers. Did you try the ASIO4ALL drivers just for reference?

I prefer 'Freeze Synth' but am not sure of SX3 has that function (am not a SX user myself)

No firm data on any of this other than both will be released this year. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph, thanks for replying so quickly. My ASIO setup all works fine (according to the simulation included), But there is no ASIO4ALL file or option within Cubase's ASIO setup. Is this something I can download from somewhere? JS seems to work fine until i put JS to a midi track and select that midi track, and then it just completely overloads the CPU when trying to play back the track, even when low memory option is checked in JS. The velocity slider in JS becomes very erratic and does not respond the same as it did before putting JS to midi. Any other ideas?
Thanks again. Greg |

Sounds like MIDI feedback. Set the MIDI track input to None or your keyboard and see if it makes a difference. Don't even bother with the ASIO4ALL, this is clearly a MIDI issue. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Blimey! Do you guys ever sleep. You must have the best customer support in the world. It's nice to know you guys are so concerned with getting JS working properly on so many different systems. Thanks Ralph, disconnecting the midi input seems to have worked a treat. Can't wait to get on using JS!!
One other thing I was wondering is if it is possible to load JS as a stand-alone instrument just to jam with rather than having to open a sequencer up? Not really a big issue, just wondered.
Thanks again,
Greg. |

Glad to hear that. If you need to route MIDI input to Jamstix just make sure not to select Omni because that routes the Jamstix output back to the input and builds the feedback loop. Just specify the precise MIDI input needed and all will be well.

One easy way to do this is the free SAVIHost. You copy its executable do the same folder jamstix.dll is in and rename the SAVIhost executable to 'jamstix.exe'. If you launch that exe, SAVIHost will automatically launch Jamstix in itself. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
