|
|
I noticed that even if I set the HIHAT to Hi Hat so it plays the hi hat in my Addictive Drums kit, the Open Hats Kick/Snare add hi hat shank 0% sounds which don't play in Addictive Drums. If I change these sounds to hi hat open, then they play correctly. Is it possible to always have the open hats play correctly in Addictive Drums?
Thanks!

The breakbeat style is coded to always use shanked hats. We did that because it sounded the most natural when comparing to classic breakbeats.
Solution is to remove the shanked 50% and 100% sounds from the kit so JS uses the tipped versions instead. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks for the reply. I see the issue now. It has nothing to do with whether it's shanked or not. Addictive Drums still plays a hi hat sample. The issue is that the open hi hats in JamStix are programmed to play 35% open. This is not enough for Addictive Drums to play an open hat. If I select the sound on the grid and move the open dial to 40%, then Addictive Drums plays the open hat. Is it possible to modify the hi hat open percentage in JamStix so that it always sets the open value to at least 40%?
Thanks,

I see the problem. Fundamentally, it is an AD issue because IMHO it should not play a loud closed hat for that CC4 value.
I'll see about getting a work-around into the next beta as follows: we'll add 'Open Hihat' to the brain element menu for elements that have an active CC4 value. If you select it, you'll get a CC4 knob in the element so you can adjust it. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I went into AD to see the MIDI messages recieved by JS3 and it appears that JS3 is sending AD specific MIDI notes for the different samples in AD and not sending to the MIDI note that has CC4 control. I have full control of mapping the AD pedal hi hat CC values to stroke types, if I can figure out how to have JS3 send the proper MIDI note for all hi hat sounds. |

Please add this section (if it does not already exist) to the bottom of your jamstix3.ini, restart JS and see if it helps:
[Addictive Drums]

My jamstix3.ini file was empty except for an empty [General] section. I added the above and it still doesn't work. JS3 still sends the hi hat to specific stroke samples and not the CC hi hat. Any other ideas? |
