Hi!

I just bought jamstix yesterday - truly a great product!

I do have a few questions though:

I am mainly going to use jamstix with audio, and I found that the velocity that is transmitted by audiom8 doesn't always reflect the velocity I would like to have in the drum part, so I decided to use MIDI-automation and added a velocity envelope. When I select "jam with audio" and have no audiom8 instances running, the velocity display in jamstix alternates between 0 and the value that is set in the envelope; the output behaves accordingly. When I select "jam with midi", the velocity works as desired (i.e. the envelope value is used), but in free jam, the arrangement is never changed, i.e. the first rhythm is used throughout.
What is the right approach for my situation? The envelope should override any (non-existent) audiom8 inputs, shouldn't it?

Also, to what extent does audiom8 analyze the input? If I read the manual correctly, the only information extracted is the velocity. Therefore, audio users will be missing out on a few things. Would it make sense to add further analyses to audiom8 in future releases?
Perhaps it would also help to make any parameters that influence jamstix' behaviour when jamming with MIDI input controllable via MIDI-automation. Or do you think "manual jam" already solves all of that?

The product specification mentions "250+ rhythms", yet when I click load in the rhythm tab, the dialog reports "185 rhythms found", which reflects the file count in the jamstix/rhythms directory. Did something go wrong with my installation?

Thank you for your time.

Greetings,
Dominik

Try using Jamstix in audio jam mode but with the velocity locked (lock icon next to velocity label). It should still respond to automation.

Yes, audio analysis is limited when compared to MIDI analysis. As CPU power increases, enhanced audio analysis will be possible in future Rayzoon releases.

The influencing parameters in MIDI jam mode are the MIDI data itself.

You have found a bug in the install. Thanks for the catch! We will fix this as soon as possible. In the mean time, here is a ZIP with the missing rhythms:
