I have Jamstix 1.3 installed and DFHS installed. Jamstix loads DFHS samples OK. Now I just installed Battery 2 and Jamstix can't find or load either Battery mappings. Someone point me in the right direction.

Could you describe the steps you are taking in detail?

Using Free Jam with a midi input, I can go to Mapping > Load and choose any of the DFHS maps and Jamstix will load and be ready to play. There are currently two Battery Maps in that list to choose from, but when either is selected - nothing happens.

Please try this:

- load Jamstix and click 'External VSTi' in the mapping tab
- select the Battery 2 DLL and click OK
- the Battery UI should appear and let you select the desired kit etc.

Good news. I'm up and Jamming with the Battery 2 drum kits. I like that you can save a a kit and when it is called up again Jamstix will automatically switch from internal sounds to external VSTi and find the same kit. Very cool.

I selected the Afro kit that has mostly congo/bongo samples and I'm assuming that Jamstix can't control these samples (no snares, rides, toms, etc) from the free jam control panel. right?

One other question, I noticed that I would need to press the C0 key a few times to initiate the start function. What could cause that? It would start and then quit, hit C0 and it wouild start again, etc.

Thanks for your first class support.

Jamstix can free jam with the kit but you may have to change the mapping for your taste. This can be a lot of fun.

Uncheck the box next to 'Jam Start/Stop' in the jam control panel.

Go to the mapping tab and select the main sounds (like kick, snare etc.). For each sound click the audit button to hear what sound of the afro kit is being played for it. You can then change the key and thus the sound and experiment with it.

If this leads to interesting results, you can then use the Save button in the mapping tab to save your kit for easy later use in other projects.

Will changes made in the mapping be globally permanent and effect the other kits or is it just the kit I'm working on at the moment and these changes can be saved with this kit and not effect the other kits?

The changes will only affect that specific mapping. They will also be saved into the project of your host. You can switch mappings by using the Load button in the mapping tab at any time.
