We're currently flashing out project "UrbanPak" (working title) that would do exactly that, bring modern-style hip-hop sounds and groove logic to Jamstix 3. No details are available at this time but we're hoping to get this done rather quickly (2-4 months). _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
Anything happening with the "UrbanPak" project? I'd definitely be interested.
I'm reworking an old hip-hop track with boring drums and I though; "what could JS do here?"
After messing about for a little while I have just about given up on recreating it. I'm not after a live/acoustic sound - I might just layer JS under the original loop for a bit of life... |

Wow! Try saying that 3 times fast (HipPak)
I will eagerly await it's release...in Q1 I hope!!
Suggestions;
I'm assuming that it will include some great new sounds and a Questlove-style drummer. I honestly don't know any others who are truly original.
Brad Wilk supplied Rage Against The Machine with some interesting beats and Travis Barker brings cool short snare roll fills (amongst other things) to his work.
How about a drummer that skips/glitches. And one that performs like juggling 2 records playing the same break with that push-pull tempo effect? You could get some interesting effects with these drummers playing different genre styles.
Cheers! |

I hope this project is going well. I look forward to some dedicated hip hop styles as that is the genre of music I componse the most. Please have some 90s styles in there (i.e. classic 70s drum breaks that were sampled by bands like ATCQ). This would be truly fantastic as I'm always trying to recreate that sampled sound without using samples.
Peace \/
