|
|
Hello,
I’m trying to get JS3 to work with Sonar X1 64bit on Windows 7. Can anyone help with this?
In Sonar I can create a new project, and I can see Jamstix3 as an available plugin, I can even add it to the project and load a kit – but as soon as I try to do anything else, it freezes up Sonar.
From the compatibility section on the Rayzoon website it appears that this is a supported configuration, but it also says you need to use bitBridge or Jbridge. I read that bitBridge is part of Sonar – so I’m not sure how I would “use” that or not use it. Is JBridge something that I could download and try instead?
I reinstalled JS3 twice.
I tried the beta.
I tried installing JS plugin to:
Program Files/ Cakewalk/ vstplugins
I tried installing JS plugin to:
Program Files (x86) / Cakewalk/ vstplugins
I have updated Windows 7 with the latest updates.
I have updated Sonar X1 with the latest updates.
nothing seems to help.
Does anyone have JS3 working with Sonar X1 64bit? – If so how did you do it? Are there some instructions somewhere that I'm missing? I'm willing to read if you could point me in the right direction.
P.S
I have a nice system, new hardware, AMD Phenom 970, 8GB RAM, correct updated drivers and no other problems.
Thanks very much for any help |

Please send me rzdlog.txt from Documents\Jamstix3. Please also try running Sonar via right-click->Run As Admin. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

When you hit 'Install Pak', does it freeze right away or do you get the Pak selection dialog?
Also, when adding JS3, please check the 'MIDI Source' option in the Sonar dialog. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Immediately after clicking on Instal Pak:
-right Away the JS window disappears
-No other window shows up
-When I try to re-open the JS window, Sonar Freezes
-I did check midi source this time as well |

Do you have any 32-bit host installed? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

no - and I don't have any other 32 bit vst either -
the only other plugins I have besides JS3 is Komplete 7.
Currently JS is installed to:
Program Files/ Cakewalk/ vstplugins
Should I also copy the files to:
Program Files (x86) / Cakewalk/ vstplugins - so that it lives in both places?
also I'm using the latest release, but not the beta.
Should I try the beta?
If so which directory should it go to?
And finally,
I'm trying to use the JS kits which already exist on my drives - in other words every time I un-install JS and re-install - I do not delete the kits (.rpx2).
Thank You

Thanks for the help - That wrapper allowed me to load a kit, but still having trouble getting JS3 to work in Sonar X1. Many simple actions are causing various errors:
“Show midi map” gets:
“The instruction at 0x77cef766 referenced memory at 0x63706018. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program”.
“Save Song” or “Save Song As” or “Export Midi" or dragging midi clip gets:
“Access violation at address 77CEE823 in module ‘ntdll.dll’ Read of address 6FE004E”
Closing Sonar after JS was inserted gets:
from BitBridge Server:
“The instruction at 0x025f44E2 referenced memory at 0x03e5c2c0. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program”. – After closing that error window, I got an additional little error window that said: “Runtime error 216 at 025F44E2”
On the plus side:
I am able to load JS into an empty Sonar Project, and load a kit, and create a simple song and play it back. I have not played with the Brain settings or much else yet as I am still needing to get past these "saving/writing to memory" type errors.
Please let me know if you need anything else from me to help troubleshoot,
Thank You |

Unchecking 'Cache GUI' should fix the 'closing JS' problem. Concerning "Save Song", does it happen if you run Sonar via right-click->Run As Admin? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Yes - and I am currently using beta 4.
When I try to save, it will bring up a folder window where I can choose a location, but as soon as I try to follow through with the save, it kicks me out of the plugin view, The error comes up and I cannot get back in to Jamstix. Also I cannot restart Sonar either until I log off or reboot. |

Yes - I always choose "run as admin".
I also cannot re-open a Sonar Project that has Jamstix in it.
I saw in the Manual that JBridge is suggested. I installed that, but it’s even worse than BitBridge. With JBridge jamstix won’t load at all. First I got a JBridge warning saying that it could not load Jamstix, I closed Sonar, then I got an additional error from auxhost: “c:\program files\ cakewalk\ vstplugins\jamstix3.dll – forcing auxhost termination due to an error, dispatcher: 0 ; Audiomaster: - 1”
I configured JBridge to "run as admin" and in Sonar Plugin manager I configured Jamstix to use JBridge as a wrapper -
I also tried to configure JBridge using the "bridger tool" but with no luck. I was using the most recent JBridge demo 1.3 I think. I have since un-installed JBridge.
Thank You |

skogzort,
Something is wrong with your installation either Sonar or Jamstix.
I am running Sonar X1 x64 with latest Quickfix 255 and JS 3 and no problems as far as I can tell.
I will do a bit of testing Thursday afternoon, and let you know what I am doing. _________________ Cheers

Thank you for the help. It’s good to know that someone has this working. Basically I am un-able to “save” anything (even changes to a kit mapping). All the errors seem to come from BitBridge because it is trying to write to memory/disk that it cannot access for whatever reason.
This is my hardware setup: (all Bios and drivers are updated)
motherboard = msi 890GXM -G65
chipset = AMD 890GX
CPU = AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4Ghz (4 cores)
memory = 4X 2GB DDR3 1333mhz Kingston Lifetime
hard drives = 4X 500GB (2 in a RAID 0) SATA WD Blue
video = NVIDIA GFORCE 8600GT, HDMI
audio = ECHO MIA (with updated drivers)
The only music software I have installed is:
Sonar X1b 64bit (I did not install the 32 bit) (I did install patch a and b, but no hotfixes since patch b)
Komplete 7 (which is working fine in Sonar)
Jamstix (installed into C:\Jamstix) plugin installed into: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\vstplugings
Is this the same way you installed Sonar and Jamstix?
and finally: I have Sonar X1 Studio, not Producer. I read that BitBridge has added controls in "Producer" What version are you using?
Thank You |
