I wish to send MIDI from JS2 to my host, to be recorded there. It looks like I need to have a kit loaded in JS2 in order to do that.
Is this right, or what have I missed? |

Hi DarkStar-
You need to load a kit so JS will have mapping info, but if you click "MIDI Only" on the Mixer page it won't use the kit's samples, but just send the notes to the MIDI output.

OK, thank you - I did wonder how to turn off the kit's audio.

| This doesn't seem to work anymore. When I try to load midi only (Loading Superior 2) nothing loads at all. Confused |

| I can load a jamstix kit and then load superior 2 midi only and that works, but I would like to avoid loading Jamstix sounds into memory if possible. I thought I remembered doing this in the past. |

If you check MIDI Only and the load a Superior kit, nothing will be loaded but the MIDI output of JS3 will be in Superior format so you can feed it to Superior in the host. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
Every time I try this, The MIDI out light doesn't light up, and I get no midi. All of the drums being played have a red x on them. |

Can you do a 'Save Song' in JS3 and send me the file? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Here is a link:

I don't know if it will really help much. If I load the superior 2 "Keys only", and then "show key map, it is says "not loaded".
I did just try opening Superior 2 and saving a completely empty kit. This works, but it still obviously requires me to have the plugin open inside Jamstix and outside of it as well. |

Ah,this is how I could use inpulse in Ableton live 8.Midi only out from Jamstix 3 triggering the inpulse drum samples.Being you can load any audio sample into inpulse this could get interesting. _________________ EMU 1820M user |

nexus_77: the file you sent me has no kit, therefore Jamstix cannot play notes. Please keep MIDI OUT ONLY checked and then load a 'Superior' kit from the 'toontrack' folder in Jamstix. This will load kit pieces with Superior MIDI mapping but won't load the Superior DLL. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

This is what I get when I try to load a kit:
I don't specifically see anything for Superior 2 that say MIDI OUT ONLY. I click the "Keys Only" button and get nothing. What am I missing?

Please do this:
- in the JS3 MIXER, check MIDI OUT ONLY
- go back to KIT and 'Load'
- in your screenshot, select 'toontrack' and you will see Superior kits
- load one of them _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I FOUND IT!! I didn't realize it was in the mixer section. I thought it was an option in the load menu. I assumed that Keys only meant it would load only the midi. I quite sure what that does still. I read it in the manual, but every time I have used it the key map has still been empty. Anyway, thank you. The only other question I have is where do I get the additional Superior Kit maps (Allaire) (Hit Factory) etc? I saw them on someone else's screenshot? |
