Hello,

I'm new to jamstix/jamcussion, and absolutely love it. However, I'm still trying to figure out how to make it work the way I want it.

I'm trying to compose a song that will be performed by a single acoustic guitar player along with a djembe player. I've tried the following:

1 - Turn off the kit drummer and style, leaving only the jamcussion player and his kit
1 - Use an empty kit and add the 12" djembe
2 - Use an empty style and edited the bar to put in the groove accent beats
3 - Turn groove into style
4 - Select "Handy" as player
5 - Compose

The only thing the percussionist plays is the four accents in every bar. I'd like it to play a part that is based on those accents.

How do I get jamcussion to play a cool djembe pattern that has specific strong beats?

Thanks,

Chris

OK, so I learned how to do what I was looking for:

1) In the song wizard I set the "Style" and "Drummer" to "Silent, and the "Kit" to "Empty Kit"
2) I set "JC Style" to "Heavy Drive", "JC Drummer" to "Percy" and "JC Kit to "Latin"
3) Clicked "Create Song" then let it compose
4) Removed all the instruments from the "JC Kit" except the conga that was doing most of the work, and then changed that conga to a 12" Djembe
5) Tweaked the song settings until I got a rhythm I liked.

I still don't know how to specify exactly where I want the accents, but this is a lot better than what I had yesterday.

Chris

Sounds like the right way. You can't tell JC where to put the accents at this time. By the way, you can also mute the drum set with shift-click on the drum icon.

Thanks Ralph. Is there plans to allow you to tell JC where to put the accents? Can it be done in Jamstix?

It's something we plan to work on at some point.
