|
|
I described a problem in another thread, but it seems that the main issue is more general than originally described.
I have an externally hosted VST as drum output (Battery 3) driven by Jamstix 3 (outputting MIDI only.) I only ONLY get output from Battery after going into its interface and hitting a note first to "jumpstart" it. Occasionally, during the course of a session, it will stop outputting sound again, and I have to go back into the Battery interface for another jumpstart. The project is very simple - just Jamstix and Battery, and it works all other ways without issue (with a subhosted Battery, with internal Jamstix sounds, etc.), but I cannot use it that way without giving up the ability to properly save track templates and FX chains (which I have not done in project yet, BTW.)
It's almost like Battery or Jamstix takes a nap, then needs to be woken up to do anything again.
Software:
Sonar Producer X1a build 197
Jamstix 3.1.2 |

Another wrinkle:
If I go to the Battery MIDI track and reset the input (from Jamstix - meaning I just re-click the already selected MIDI channel in the MIDI input channel menu AGAIN) it starts working for a while. |

| Just for fun, take the same Jamstix setup, remove Battery, load up a JS kit, and see if everything works fine. If it does, my guess is that it's an issue with Battery. |

i'm having similar jamstix+battery problem in reaper. i started a thread in their forums - http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=76158 - and one person referred me here.
(copy/paste)
So... i've worked with a lot of VSTis (especially NI Komplete 5) in Reaper 3.75 for a while with hardly any problems. Then i got Jamstix3, learned a little, upgraded to Jamstix3.1, and learned a little more.
The problems started when i tried to play Battery's sounds with Jamstix's 'brain'. The first occasion it worked for a while (maybe 20 min) before ending in an immediate "reaper has unexpectedly quit" crash. That time i was ready to quit anyway, so just shutdown and went to bed. The next time i tried jamstix-plays-battery, it crashed within five minutes. after that, reaper would crash (itself, not the entire computer) almost as soon as i set up the i/o and plugins to talk to each other, or open the project that had them linked.
A couple of tries later, i started seeng an error message in the jamstix screen that said the battery plugin may be corrupt, but battery works by itself just fine.
any ideas?
p.s. i temporarily went back to reaper 3.74, but that didn't make any difference. |

Valtraxys_Blue: are you loading Battery into Jamstix or the host? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

...of course, i'm still learning so that may be totally wrong way to set them up... |

Please make sure to check 'MIDI OUT ONLY' in the JS3 mixer so JS does not load Battery into itself when using a Battery-based JS kit. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
