Greetings All

I am working on a blues shuffle that has stops every 8 bars. Using the Jamstix Midi start/stop generates an intro or ending each time it is pressed, I just want a stop on 1. I tried the mute function in Arranger but it's not the answer.

Can I do this?

Thanks in advance
Bill

Couldnt you just program a rythm of silence for a bar or two? Just uncheck all your kit hits so nothing plays.

No, That was what I did with the mute function in Arranger. It doesn't stop, just turns off and sounds like a mistake.

There has got to be a way to program stops, Yes?

I know what you mean. Like say, a 2 bar beat in 4/4 - 1, 2, 3 (4 = stop) in the middle of a bar type thing, on a 16th, then the beat continues 1, 2, 3, 4....

The only way I can think of is if you export the midi or record it to a midi track, then edit it yourself

If there is another way, then please let us know

Very Happy

Method #1
Use an empty rhythm slot for the stop bar and copy the desired rhythm via the new Paste button in the rhythm bar then remove checkboxes from the parts of the bar that should be silent.

Method #2
Use MIDI automation envelope to mute just the part of the bar after the stop and then bring it back up.

Thanks Ralph

It would be really helpful if there was a midi start/pause/restart that would immediately stop on the beat the midi note is placed (but cymbals would continue to ring).

I will try the new paste feature as soon as I figure out how to download 1.2 Embarassed

I understand method 2 but could you elaborate on method 1. I guess I'm just not that familiar w/JS nomenclature. Could you give me a step by step. I assume we are in the Arranger window. Where am I copying rhythm from, where are paste button and check boxes?

The Society of the Percussively Challanged thanks you

- Go to the arranger tab, note the number of the rhythm you want to stop and also locate an unused rhythm slot and click on it

- the rhythm tab is now open on the unused rhythm. Click PASTE and select the number of the original rhythm

- Uncheck all boxes past the quarter beat where you need the stop
