Hi Ralph,
With my current kit, I'm having a devil of a time getting all of the toms routed properly.
1. I've got four toms loaded in the kit, but the brain keeps generating hits for Tom 5.
2. All of my toms play fine if I hit them in the kit view, but when actually playing a song or working in the bar editor all of the Tom 4 hits get played on Tom 2, and all Tom 5 hits (even though there isn't one) are played on Tom 3.
Here's the kit I'm using: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7231524/SSD%20Current.j2k
I've tried removing all of the toms and setting them up from scratch, but it didn't have any effect. Is there something I'm missing?
Cheers. |

Jamstix smartly compensates for missing drums. If you want a 4 tom setup, remove tom 4 and adjust the sounds for the remaining toms as needed, i.e. assign the tom 4 sound to tom 5. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph!
I have a similar question. From your answer, I assume that Tom 5 is internally thought of as being the lowest floor tom. I want to map a drum kit (external instrument) that has two rack toms and one floor tom.
What is the suggested way of mapping these toms in jamstix (version 2)? My current guess is that (1,3,5) might be appropriate, but without knowing the which toms are usually used by the drummers, I can't be sure if it will result in the best possible results. I did notice that if e.g. tom 2 is missing, it is replaced by tom 1, which would be bad if tom 2 is actually used more often than tom 3 by the drummers.
Hope you can help.
Best

For a 3 tom set-up, I recommend loading Tom 1, Tom 3 and Tom 5. In that configuration, Tom 2 hits will always go to Tom 1, unless you use 'Redirection' in the brain. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
