Hi there!
First of all this (JC) is by far the best sampled percussion i've tried, thx.
Cause there are cajon and udu stuff, is there any possibility that you add the standard flamenco compas (bulerias, rumba, alegrias, tangos eg.) to the styles?
This would be very useful to have these odd rythm-meters ( for bulerias 6/8+3/4) and of course that jamstix automaticly gives the right accents (for bulerias 3-6-8-10 in 12 beats) Smile
any suggestions?

Not sure when we will get around to do more hand percussion stuff but it is duly noted.

Nice to see another flamenco aficionado here.

I agree it would be great to have these flamenco rhythms available in Jamstix, as they are just as important as the other Latin rhythms already on offer. Even better if we have some sampled hand-claps to create a traditional flamenco accompaniment using 2 or 3 palmistas.

I suspect that poor Ralph already has enough on his plate! Rolling Eyes

I'm surprised more Jamstix users aren't posting their creations (kits/styles)

I was unaware of compas until I saw this thread. I be interested in these styles if anyone creates some.

It will be great to see more flamenco inspired uses of Jamstix here. I learned to dance flamenco back in the 1980s and it does make a difference to use your body to feel the rhythm of the dance. Go to Seville and take some lessons with a real flamenco like Carmen de Torres, then you will recognise the benefit of flamenco rhythms.

zeph_yrus has provided us with some good material on this. When we get the chance, we will try to put together a Flamenco Pak.

Fantastic Ralph! I know that flamenco is a minority and specialist interest, but it is an important style in the field of world rhythms.

As you already have the cajon in Jamcussion, it will be a useful extra to be able to program Jamstix to play rhythms like Bulerias, Tangos, Rumba, Sevillanas, and anything else you want to give us. The main flamenco rhythms fall into patterns of 12 beats, 4 beats and 3 beats.

By the way, I always thought that the song "America" (from West Side Story), was based on the Bulerias rhythm: 1 2 3 / 1 2 3 / 1 2 / 1 2 / 1 2

I forgot to add ... please include an assortment of great hand-claps - referred to as sordas and claras - to create a real flamenco atmosphere. It is surprising that many virtual instruments have little or no decent hand-claps, although clapping is a basic "instrument" used in many cultures.

You could also record some finger-snaps. That will make Jamstix the best flamenco virtual percussion resource available on the planet!

You could even add a CAŅA - have you ever heard of this Ralph? I bought one in Seville about 20 years ago, but they are very easy to make from a piece of bamboo:

Just found a good example of the CAŅA in action. It is just a piece of bamboo with a spilt section that vibrates when hit:

Have you ever handled one of these Ralph?
