Is there such a thing even in JS?

I am working on a Dixieland piece that needs a tight groove without a lot of fireworks and accents. Fills need to be shorter and snare focused so they are not distracting. Bottom line is that the drums cannot be the center piece of the music.

I have tried all the drummers in JS3 including James Stix who usually comes to my rescue but am not having success. Even old Charlie holds a tight groove but goes flamboyant on me for the fills.

Has anyone found a drummer model that could do the job I am looking for? Also are there under the hood tweaks (I am not a power user) that I could use to get the fills where I want them? Also high hat play needs to be less fancy than what I am getting.

Try this:

- set transition and repetition fill mode to 'Groove' instead of 'Freeform'.
- set 'Overall' slider in 'Accent' tab to zero.

You can also adjust the length of fills, which drums are focused on, and use the Simplify slider to calm things down.

You can use Load/Save in fill section of the bar menu for that.
