Since there are many time signatures that Jamstix doesn't support (for what I assume are a variety of reasons having to do with the actual drum lines), would it be possible to simply support arbitrary time signatures for /rests/? Meaning that you could put in, say 15/16 for a bar, and instead of attempting to play, Jamstix would simply rest for that bar and resume when the next bar (with a supported time signature) is reached. Right now, I have to break all my songs into separate *projects* so that I can use Jamstix (on parts that it supports) and manual drums (for ones that it doesn't.) If it was possible to do with in one project, it would make things much, much easier.
Ultra short version: have Jamstix rest on bars with time signatures it doesn't yet understand.
Thank you for reading. |

Unfortunately that is hard to do due to the limitations of the VST time sig interface and the need for JS to constantly calculate the host position in proper time sig format. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Does VST3 by any chance fix this? I can guess the answer, but figured I'd ask. |

I know that plugins can inherit the timesignatures of the host, but perhaps for Jamstix, it might not simply be a matter of knowing what the timesig is, but reacting and adapting to it...
perhaps a "look-ahead" button, which could buffer the plugin a bit? It would hurt live playing, but for sequencing and composing, it would be acceptable. |

The problem is that VST only states the current time signature and a quarter note position. This means you cannot calculate the current bar/beat/tick unless you have knowledge of all prior measures. If the host would send this info, it would make things a lot easier.
In addition, a lot of the internal logic of the AI as far as time sig is concerned is x/8 based not x/16. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
