|
|
I've just downloaded and installed v3.5.0.
Sounds were missing from the first 3 kits I loaded (I haven't tried any more). 4 from Maple (XL), 17 from Hot Rods and 25 from Fat.
and the RZdlog says: | Code: |
<22.5> Loading sound "Snare - 14x4 Premier MC Maple"...
<22.5> Sound files are missing for "Snare - 14x4 Premier MC Maple"
...
<22.7> Loading sound "Snare Sidestick - 14x4 Premier MC Maple"...
<22.7> Sound files are missing for "Snare Sidestick - 14x4 Premier MC Maple"
<22.7> Loading sound "Snare Bounce - 14x4 Premier MC Maple"...
<22.7> Sound files are missing for "Snare Bounce - 14x4 Premier MC Maple"
<22.7> Loading sound "Snare Rimshot - 14x4 Premier MC Maple"...
<22.7> Sound files are missing for "Snare Rimshot - 14x4 Premier MC Maple" |
On investigation, these sounds are all present, but in a Jamstix 2/data/sounds folder, which is alongside my Jamstix 3/data/sounds data folder.
v3.3.0 finds all the sounds quite happily, accessing both folders.
What do I need to do to resolve this issue? I wish to keep the Jamstix folders separate. |

If you wish to keep them separate, please copy all rzd files from jamstix2\sounds to jamstix3\sounds. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thank you for your reply.
Just so that I am clear: v3.3.0 was able to access Sounds from both the Jamstix 2 and Jamstix 3 folders but that feature is not supported in v3.5.0. ISsthat correct?
I had Jamstix 2 and Jamstix 3 set up with separate folders so that I could use either product. I do not really wish to duplicate the JS2 Sounds into the JS3 folder, but that looks like it's nownecessary.
After I had done that I could load the ...(XL) kits without problems.
-----------------------------
However, if I select any of the original ...Pak kits (such as DrumPak #1 - Standard.rdm, ePak - BoomTown.rdm, SnarePak - Bright Kit DP2.rdm etc) they do not load at all.
As these kits loadable in v3.5.0 (they load OK in v3.3.0). Is there an Option I need to set? |

With cross-platform coming along, we really had to start letting go of legacy stuff, such as JS2 registry lookup/sound support and RDM (Jamstix 1) kit load. With HD sizes these days, it is usually not problematic to have the sounds duplicated in both installs.
If you still have JS2, you can load the RDM kits there and save J2K copies of them so they will load in JS 3.5.
We're sorry for the inconvenience! If this becomes a major issue for many user, we will need to make adjustments. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I had forgotten that JS3 accessed the Registry to find the the JS2 folder. I can understand doing away with that, but could the JS2 folder location be stored in the jamstix3.ini file?
AS for the .rdm files, it was a bit of a surprise as I did not see it mentioned in the Release Notes (perhaps it was discussed during the Beta Tests?).
There are about 100 .rdm files to convert.
Yes, I still do have JS2 - but sadly it does not Save Kits - the host reports an error when trying to create the file. This is v2.5.3 on Windows 7. Saving did work on my old (now defunct) Windows XP system, but I do not know which version of Jamstix 2 it was. |

Run your host via right-click->Run As Admin and JS2 kit saving should work. I'll look into RDM support for 3.5 but it will take a bit. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

My hosts are all set to "Run as Administrator" in the .exe's Properties >> compatibility tab. But I get the error when trying to create the Kit file (or overwrite an existing one).
Thank you for looking into it.

Edit: I could not see anything relevant in the JS2 Debug Log. |

| And I can save / reload Song parts quite happily (even into the folder where I tried to save the Kit). |
