Hi,

I wonder how to use Jamstix in a Big Band style (like "swing kids" the movie), I don't know exactly the name of that style. It's a very swing with a lot of "toms rolls" do you see what I mean ? kind of 40's music.

That's possible ???
Thank you

Hey - thanks for sharing that clip. I love that style of music. I'm just finishing off a big band/hot jazz/swing -style track myself at the moment.

I don't really use the built-in style (except occasionally for inspiration) - they never quite fit exactly what I'm after. I generally program the basic beat myself and then assign the drummer to apply their flair.

I was going to upload a groove for you but I don't think you I am able to on the forum...

Anyway, I created tom roll similar to the opening of the Benny Goodman link by doing the steps below:

Set the host tempo to 125 and in JS change the part's shuffle to 100% on 16th notes.
To create the style, I simply placed a tom hit on every 16th note, alternating between the left and right hands (left tom hits on 1, 3, 5, etc.; right on 2, 4, 6, etc.).
Then I upped the velocity on hits 3, 7, 11 and 15 and then pulled the velocity back slightly on hits 2, 4, 8, 10 and 13.

Hope this helps!!
