I have a song I am trying to arrange a part that stops with an instrument fade out or hang, then picks up again a few measures later after all the commotion dies down.

Here is the arrangement:

Bar 72 - Cymbal Monster fill
Bar 73-76 silent
Bar 77 music and drums come in again
Bar 79 and 80 Tender Blender ending
Bar 81-83 Muted
(hope this makes sense)

I want the fill in bar 72 to let the cymbal ring thru bar 73, but I want to mute all the other drum parts thru bar 76, then start up playing again until the ending in bar 79/80.

How do I get JS to do this?
I have tried to mute bars 73-76, but the crash fill won't ring thru bar 73-it gets choked off from the mute.
I have also tried to replace bar 72 with an ending, but then the drums won't pick up again in bar 77.

Any ideas?

Details: JS X-23 manual jam (after free jam created the arrangement), NTrack 4.05 host. Don't know how to save the arrangement in NTrack, either.

Thanks,
Rick

I hope I understand this right. I would not mute bar 73 but give it its own rhythm, which I would set in the rhythm tab to a kick and crash on the first quarter with no other selections and the snare and tom accent sliders all the way left.

Ah So...this sounds like the way to do it. There has got to be a simple answer(I'm just not seeing it). But, when I change the rhythm for bar 73, all of the other bars change as well. How do I make it (bar 73) change to the new rhythm and leave the rest as they were?

Thanks,
Rick

Go to the arranger and look for an unused rhythm slot. Click on that rhythm on bar 73 to select the rhythm for this bar. Now double-click on it to see the rhythm tab. Click 'Reset', check the first quarter boxes in the kick and cymbal panel and then slide snare and tom accents all the way left.
