I''ve been enjoying midi jamming along with Truepianos in Reaper, but have a weird problem. If I stop playing (piano is tacet for say 1 bar), the host freezes just for a second or two. I mean, the play cursor actually halts and Jamstix audio cuts out completely, including any ringing out cymbals or whatever. Just as if the volume has been ducked to zero while the cursor is frozen. Then, host jumps forward and Jamstix comes back in, in tempo, as if nothing has happened.

I get a similar issue when playing long sustained notes with no other midi activity. Host freezes momentarily and then starts back up in tempo. The freeze is again accompanied by a total loss of any audio output from Jamstix, just for that second or two. Then everything comes back in.

Any ideas?

Please repeat the problem, close the project and then send me rzdlog.txt from My Documents\Jamstix3.

Okay - file sent. Thanks for looking into this for me, Ralph.

The log looks fine. Please try this:

- set audio outputs in JS3 to 8
- try Jamstix 3.1 Beta

If this fails, send me the log file again.

The most accurate way I can describe this is as follows:

While I'm sending MIDI events, everything is fine. As soon as I stop sending any events (either by taking my hands off the keys, or hitting and holding anything longer than a half note) the display freezes and I get silence for about 2 beats (at 170BPM). Then everything comes back as normal, even without further MIDI data. The host clock does not stop during this process (although the display is frozen for this brief interval as noted).

So, I'm jamming along, hit a long note or take a rest, and the freeze (display and all sound) occurs momentarily and then comes back in time with the original tempo, regardless of whether I play any more notes or not after the start of the freeze. It's really weird.

If I use audiom8 on the Truepianos track then JS seems to jam just fine in audio jam mode.

That's strange, because I cannot reproduce the problem with Reaper (3.72) and Jamstix in midi mode, jamming, here...
Can't think that would be of any help here, but just to make sure - I don't have true piano and use the Braunschweig upright in Kontakt. Do you get the bug with any other free piano or whatever you have (what do i know, maybe load the free old mda piano and try?)
Sorry if that's not much of a help, tried to reproduce the bug, hmmm...

Good idea - I'll try another piano later. I have Kontakt so I'll see if that works.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found the same as you. MIDI jam works fine with the Kontakt piano with JS3 in Reaper. Must be something to do with the Truepianos VSTi, I guess.

Sorry for wasting your time Ralph, I'll investigate further and let you know if I find out anything useful.
