How do I get Jamstix to do a slow blues (65pbm) in 12/8? I've tried setting the time signature to 12/8 in my host (Reaper) and loading the quickstart Blues song but I get weird behavior and it doesn't sound right. Any tips?

Sorry, version 3. I should add, that I'm looking to have triplets played on the high hats.

If you want a blues shuffle feel, leave Reaper at 4/4. Click on the shuffle button in Jamstix 3 and select 8th shuffle. That will give you s 12/8 type blues shuffle, which is a delayed off beat (i.e. 1 and 3) but not 1,2,3 per beat. (see pic at link below).

You can select 12/8 by clicking on the numbers in the Bars column (see pic at link below), but the beats don't appear to be subdivided into triplets, which is what I would have expected for 12/8. But I might be missing something.

Thanks for the suggestion Stratman but I know how to get a shuffle feel. I'm looking for a drum style that's bog standard in a slow blues and that's a triplet feel on the high hats.

I would set the host to 12/8 and use the '6/8 Blues' style.

As a matter of interest, what also seems to work in Reaper 3.71 is the following:-

Select 12/8 in Reaper.

In Jamstix 3, in the drop down menu (just to the left of the Wizard button) select Clear Song. Jamstix then picks up the 12/8 time signature.

Now Load the 6/8 blues style.

To get the correct tempo you need to multiply by 3/2 in Reaper. So, for example, if you need 120bpm in 12/8, you set the tempo to 180 in Reaper.

btw. I've now worked out that for 12/8, in the JS bar editor, the following numbers correspond to the 'on beats'. Sorry, I'd missed that before.
'The 1' corresponds to 1 in JS in the JS bar editor
'The 2' corresponds to 4 in JS in the JS bar editor
'The 3' corresponds to 7 in the JS bar editor
'The 4' corresponds to 10 in the JS bar editor

Thanks for your help guys. I've tried your suggestions and its a cool beat for sure, but its not the standard slow blues type drum pattern I was looking for. Ralph, perhaps you might consider adding such a style to a future version of jamstix. It's a classic and I'm sure lots of people would find a use for it.
