Hi,
I recently bought jamstix together with the metal expansion pack since I'm absolutely useless at writing drums. Sadly, despite the quite nice sounding demos on the metal expansion pack website, I can't even get anything close to this together. I read the manual, I tried all the options but it always comes down to two things that I find ultimately annoying:

1.) The only usable style for the kind of music I'm doing, seems to be "Modern Metal" with its Kick and Snare "business" controls. However, particularly with the kick, it seems you can either dial it all the way up (which gives you a steady double bass - nice when needed) or all the way down for a quieter groove. Everything in between seems to generate a rather complicated bass drum pattern which on its own might sound interesting and jazzy but doesn't fit any song I can imagine. (Maybe my imagination is limited) Wink

2.) Even if I had something that would work for one bar of a part, the next bar of the same part would sound completely different. In other words: I'm missing a setting to make it write pretty much the same thing for all bars of a part with only minor variations.

Is there any way to remedy or work around one of those? (or both)

Thanks,
FR

try this:

- clear a bar, loop it and program your desired basic kick pattern
- save the bar
- load 'Modern Metal' or any other style and then use the brain menu to 'Add' a 'Groove Importer'
- load your saved bar into the groove importer

You now have a combo of your basic pattern and the selected style. Turn down any kick elements of the style that compete with your kick.

You can save the result as a style preset for easy future access.

Awesome. Thank you so much, you made my day. Now it's doing what I wanted it to do for the last two days.
It's probably not super intuitive (feature request: button that says "carry this groove through part/song/whatever) but hey, definitely good enough to work with.
Thanks again!
