| Just replaced my JS3 dll with this new beta1 version and when I bring JS3 up in Cubase sx3 it still says at the bottom 3.0.0 and when I click on the Jamstix 3 logo to get the 'about' screen it says its version 3.0.0 not 3.0.1 beta1. I'm not sure wether I have the new beta or not now so clarification would help. Liking JS3 a lot by the way Ralph, great work! |

You replaced the wrong DLL. Please check where Cubase loads the DLL from and update that file. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Yeah, sorry Ralph, I replaced the dll's in my main Js3 folder( which are on my D drive by the way),instead of the one in my Cubase vst folder! Will the dll's I replaced cause any problems/ should I try to replace them with the original ones? |

Ralph, using 3.0.2 beta 5. Would it be possible for Songbuilder, when it is set to use the Import style, to remember what style songbuilder is set to import? When I re-open the project it has gone back to 'Default' so I am now creating a text file for all our songs so I know what I did - I know I can look at the parts to work it out - it just saves a bit of time if I want to re-jiggle things quickly at band practice.
PS: I hope you are wary of increased complexity but not yet weary of it.
PPS: The JS3 CS kit is superb. |

Hi Ralph, Im using the beta 3.0.2 and I noted that if you load a saved song/project that uses a style custom preset or a drummer custom preset, JS3 doesnt show the name of the custom presets used, it always shows "default". Anyway JS3 seems to load the song right with that preset adjustments.
Im in reaper 3.52, thanks Ralph!
PD: It also happens when you save a part with a custom preset and then you load it, JS doesnt seem to remember the name of it.
Edit: Ralph I found your answer in the '"Currently selected" option indicators' topic; I think it would be a great idea to save songs/projects in a way so that JS could remember it so we can know what custom preset was used in the song. Thanks!
Gustavo, happy JS3 user |

| Another suggestion. In the song pane the Style/Drummer/Part heading should not really disappear as you scroll down a song with more parts than can be shown in the window at once. It should be like a frozen heading in an excel spreadsheet in this single user's opinion. (I seem to have like lots of monolithic blocks, with a new one appearing with beta 5). |

Hi Ralph-
3.0.2 RC1
The Kit window covers a portion of the tabs, making them harder to click, and it's aligned too far left:

| Ralph [RZ] wrote: | | 3.0.2 RC2 is now out with the graphics fix. | I can verify that the graphics are now OK, however, as a test I installed to my netbook (Dell Mini 10 running XP and Cubase 5) and the compact view is cut off at the top -- it's actually the title bar of container window of Cubase, because that window is then larger than 600 pixels in height and you can't scroll to get to the title bar in order to close the VSTi. Bizarrely, even if I increase the resolution to 1024x768 (which on a 1024x600 physical screen allows you to scroll up and down on the virtual desktop), it's still not possible to get to the title bar as the VSTi window is stuck against the top of the screen. I suspect this may be a Cubase window-handling issue, so time permitting I'll install Reaper and try again.
Either way, I think the compact view may have to go down another 30-50 pixels in height to be netbook-friendly!
[EDIT] I've tested it with Reaper, but of course Reaper has a completely different approach to handling VST GUIs than Cubase. It's usable in Reaper if you set a virtual desktop to be larger than the physical screen -- with the Intel 945 chip common in many netbooks this is possible although you may have to go into the advanced setting of the monitor to display settings other than 1024x600 and 800x600. This also solves the problem in Cubase once you change the default in Preferences to not set VST windows to "Always on top". It turns out that that's the default in Cubase 5, but I was able to just get onto a few pixels of the title bar that had disappeared off the top of the screen, right-click and uncheck "Always on top"!
[EDIT]Finally, just to add that I don't think the graphics issues are with JS3, but rather with the host's window handling in both Cubase and Reaper. I also don't think it's realistic to run JS3 on a netbook, even with ASIO4All -- although it is possible with buffer sizes in the region of 1024 samples, I regard it more as a technical experiment until someone writes an ASIO driver for those RealTek audio chips ... or until the next generation of netbooks! I do think it's a worthwhile test, though, as the 1024x600 format is likely to be popular for a while to come yet.
