Hello!

I have a problem with JS3 and Reaper.

When I load JS3 as VSTi into a track in Reaper, or load a project where JS3 is on a track I get frequent crashes. Sometimes it works like a charm, but sometimes I get 2 or 3 crashes in a row. Don`t know why. And it does not matter if I use the official 3.0.1 dll or the latest 3.0.2 beta.

When JS3 is loaded and running it works like a charm for hours. The crashes only happen when loading. Also sometimes when saving a project.

Reaper quits then without any warning or error message. It just closes and I`m back on desktop. JS3 is the only Vsti causing crashes, so It can`t be Reapers fault I think.

Some facts about configuration (if important):

P4 3,2 GHZ
ASUS Mainboard with Intel Chipset
2 GB RAM
Line6 POD X3 Live as sound device (Line6 ASIO drivers)
Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit
Reaper 3.52
Jamstix3 is set to "MIDI only", so no kit pieces are loaded.

Anyone else having this problem, or maybe a solution?

Thanks,

XoechZ

Hello Ralph!

I have sent the file to support@rayzoon.com

But, as I also described in the mail, this logfile is only there when everything works fine. After one of the described crashes, there is no logfile in the folder.

Hope it helps anyways.

Thanks,

XoechZ

Hi

This sounds like my problem.

Once a load is good it will run no problems.
I also have random load up crashes only when orange multithread button is on in FL Studio. When off it loads every time
still waiting for a solution to this problem.

all the best
john

Hello Ralph!

Do you remember this thread?

I have to say that Jamstix 3.02 was very stable, but with the new Jamstix 3.1 beta the same crashing scenario has returned on my system. Iīm using latest Reaper version 3.68.

Maybe this info helps for further development.

Greetings,

XoechZ

Please run the ASIO4ALL driver with REAPER just to see if the crashes disappear with it.

Hi Ralph!

Sorry, I forgot to mention important things:

My PC setup has changed meanwhile!

Now I use:

Intel DualCore2 CPU E6600 2,4GhZ
ASUS Mainboard (VIA Chipset)
2 GB RAM (Kingston DDR2 667MhZ)
M-Audio Delta 2496 (latest M-Audio ASIO driver installed)
Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit

The Line 6 drivers were s**t, so I decided to buy a good soundcard. I donīt know if it would be useful to try ASIO4ALL in this case, but I will if you still suggest it.

Yes, please try them, the M-Audio drivers can do weird things as well.

Ok, I have tried ASIO4ALL drivers.

But they do not work at all!

First, the S/PDIF input of my soundcard does not work with ASIO4ALL and second, the output is crackling and popping all time. I have tried different settings with ASIO4ALL and read the manual. Did not help. This driver is not working here. Sorry.

Thanks for your pacience Ralph!

I tried the WDM driver in Reaper.

Result:
Seems to be more stable (no crashes when playing or saving projects or templates), but latency is too high for recording.

There should be an option to reduce latency.

I've been having crashes with JS3 in REAPER as well, also while either loading or saving. Sometimes it doesn't happen until I actually exit REAPER.

I have a MOTU Ultralite. I've been using the ASIO drivers, but I'll see if WDM improves things.

Thanks-

-Susan
