|
I have Jamstix 2 XL. Somewhere amongst the millions of posts about Jamstix 3 there must be step by step instructions about what to uninstall, how to install version 3 etc. Could someone tell me where that is please.
Because I never feel I've finished a song all my Jamstix 2 parts have never been exported to midi or even saved as song files. I want to keep what Jamstix 2 is currently doing in my songs (which includes some hand edited parts) and be able to use that with Jamstix 3, but with the option of making further alterations. Whats the best way to do that?
Will Jamstix 3 automatically use whatever kit from the XL pack I used on the song?
Sorry if these are naive questions but I haven't used Jamstix for months and want to get into using Jamstix 3 now.
Thanks |

You donīt need to uninstall JS 2, you simply go ahead and install JS 3. After you find that JS 3 does what you expect it to do, you can uninstall JS 2 later on.

AFAIK JS 3 will play songs made in JS 2 with no problem. You should go aheads and open the respective songs in JS 3 and let it play through to see if everything works as expected.
Thereīs a transition tool in JS 3 (under options), where you can move specific elelements from your JS 2 folder to your JS 3 folder automatically.
But for safety puposes I recommend to copy, not move, these elements from the JS 2 to JS 3 folder.
1.fills (if you have custom made fills)
2. groovemaps (if you have custom groovemaps)
3. grooves (if you have custom made grooves)
4. kits (if you have custom made kits)
5. songs (for your own songs in order to make them appear in the wizard songs list).

Doc
thanks for your reply. Presumably then, I'm going to have to save all the songs I have created in Jamstix 2 as song files and then import them into Jamstix 3 in order for them to play as they did in Jamstix 2. Then I can make further changes in Jamstix 3 if I wish to do so. |
