|

I'm one of the red headed step children (Mac/Logic user), but I love the idea of Jamstix and bought it yesterday. I was planning on running it on my IBM computer, exporting the audio (WAV or MP3), then pulling the audio into Logic. However, as I read the documentation over my lunch hour, I get the feeling Jamstix only operates as a plug in and I need some sort of VST setup. I haven't licensed my product yet and I want to do it on the right computer.
Can Jamstix operate standalone and export audio?
Do I have to try the Mac workaround, which probably exceeds my technical expertise?
Should I just buy Cubase Essential 5 and export to Logic from there?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

The easiest way is to use SAVIHost or MiniHost, which are free. If you need more host capability then I'd recommend REAPER. Personally, I would probably use MiniHost and then export to WAV from there. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Jamstix outputs audio of course, but standalone is not possible.
Jamstix requires a VST host.
You can use a free VST host like SAVIhost (http://www.hermannseib.com/english/savihost.htm), but for what you want to do (i.e. export audio to Logic) IŽd invest in a cheap Windows DAW like Reaper (about $ 60.-). Better choice than cubase Essential IMO. |

Doh, Ralph was faster, but at least his recommendations are similar... |

| Reaper's a very good choice. Best DAW out there, in my opinion. |

I was sooooo frustrated. I couldn't get Jamstix to produce sound for the life of me. Finally I realized I had forgotten to load the drums.
In retrospect, Jamstix was producing a very accurate representation of a drummer playing on thin air.
Reaper works just fine and is very cost effective. Happy camper |
