tempo signature changes
i installed the latest JS2.5 RC, and i have some problems with tempo changes using sonar 6 studio edition.
i had the same mess with the first JS2.2.1 beta
basically, i set up some tempo changes in sonar 6 using the usual insert - meter/key change.
i'd like to work with odd tempos (7/4 , 5/4, etc) but, when the odd time bar arrives in sonar, JS seems to loose the song position information and it seems to act in an absolutely disordered way, and it never catch the right tempo again.
i have tried several things: enabling or disabling the "time signature change" option in JS while working either with a single song part or splitting the parts (for example: 2 bar 4/4, 1 bar 7/8, 1 bar 4/4, 1 bar 5/4, all as single parts)
the main problems seems that the song position pointer is lost at the the first tempo change in sonar. it seems to me that, when the odd bar arrives in sonar, the JS begins this bar from beat 2 and not from beat 1.
when i preview the bar in JS, the odd tempo is correclt handled....
is there some trick?!?!
thanks! _________________ listen to my music at

Make sure that 'Time Signature Changes' is enabled and that each part has its correct time sig set in JS2 (clicking on the part length or reps to edit). _________________ Ralph Zeuner

i have sent you a private mail.
for the sake of curiosity for other people, i include here the files: there are a video, a sonar studio 6 project, and the JS2 song to be imported.
http://www.alchemystudio.it/docs/jamstix_odd_tempo_debug.zip
i have selected "allow tempo changes" in JS (using JS 2.5 RC1).
i have setup a separate part (1 bar long) for each odd time part.
i'm using sonar 6.2.1 studio
i have set up tempo changes is sonar 6, and i have placed markers correspoding to each time sig change. i've also added a simple MIDI piano scale melody for reference.
i feel that for some reason JS is loosing the song position when it encouters the tempo change message in sonar 6. in fact, when the time signature occurs, the jamstix position pointer doesnt start from beat 1, but from beat 3,4,5.... as you can see in the video
i have looked into sonar, but i didnt see any particular option regarding signature changes.
by the way, if i delete the time signatures changes into SONAR (so keeping everything in 4/4), jamstix works well and the tempo changes are correclty handled....
i dont' know if i'm the only one experiencing this behaviour... _________________ listen to my music at

Solved!
as sayd in your email, the problem was the offset bar option: now is set to zero and it's everything OK!
thanks a lot! _________________ listen to my music at

|
|
It seems like others have had problems with time signature, but I don't see the solution that was found.
My particular problem is that I can't seem to do anything but 4/4 when using EnergyXT (2.5.2 Beta 02-Nov-09). I manged to get an intro bar using the correct time sig, but everything that followed after became a hopeless jumble and I could see from the JS counter that it was counting 4/4 for parts that were clearly set to 3/4.
Obviously, I've enabled time sig change in options since I was able to set the time sig. I've set the time sig for each part to 3/4 (no mid-song changes going on). I must be missing something, here. Or perhaps it is something that will be fixed in JS 3 and I'll have to settle for composing only in 4/4 until then. ;o)
Any help? |

Make sure that your part changes match the tempo changes in the host. If it still doesn't work, send me your eXT file. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
