I ordered Jamstix several months ago and could never get it to sound good with my recordings. For some reason I thought I had to use the M8 plugin and then set JS to "Jam With Audio".

Quite by accident tonight, I realized that just by defining the different song parts after choosing a style and a drummer, JS composes some great tracks without having to listen with the M8 plugin.

Am I the only dummy who thought it was necessary to have JS set to Jam with Audio? I suppose that I am...

Glad you got it sorted. Yes, you can great results just by using Jam Without Input. You can also control the overall dynamics in that mode via the 'Power Level' VST automation in the host.

Ralph, are you saying there exists a way to automate the adjustment of the JS Power knob so that its setting is recorded while the song plays?

Of so, is there a way to control that knob with an external midi controller (such as one of the sliders on my M-Audio Oxygen keyboard)?

Your answer may be "RT_M" and I have no problem with that if it's in there.

Thanks,
Brian

Yes, you can do that. Two ways:

a) Create a VST automation envelope in the host on the 'Power Level' Jamstix parameter.

or

b) Right-click on the song power knob in Jamstix and select the MIDI controller # you want to use. You can then use the MIDI keyboard to adjust the knob in real-time (or via host envelope as well).
