Hi Ralph
I sent you the following post on jun 03 2009 and never really got a satisfactory solution even after emailing rzlog.txt and a sample song to you. Once again I am fed up with Jamstix being unstable. I really want to invest in JS3 but won't bother if this problem is to persist.
I note that another user has had the same problem - please see this link
http://rayzoon2.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=27133&highlight=tools#27133
Please note I am not refering to missing notes in the host after dragging and dropping - I am talking about missing notes on playback - Not the same notes either on each successive playback
Reinstalled jamstix and used stock kits with the same result.
Please note JS works fine in Cubase and Minihost so I know it's a pro Tools thing
Apologise for the tone of this mate but I'm really fed up - I spent good money
The original post:
Have recently returned to Jamstix after checking out the mouth watering new features and the exiting prospect of JS3.
However I have a problem which has appeared after upgrading my set up - details below
JS2 keeps missing notes on random bars - If I drag the bar to my host (pro Tools) there are notes clearly missing so I know it's not my drum Module (BFD)
When I preview the bar everything is OK
When I play back the part it's a different bar that contains missing notes.
Have tested in Cubase and everything is fine so it's definately a Pro Tools issue.
Have tested all the way back to Pro Tools 7.1 and back to Original JS2 and I get the same problem.
Tested this with a basic 8th rock beat with the kick on 1 and 3 and the kick solo'd in BFD so I'm not talking about the odd ghost note or accent here.
I sincerely hope you can help as I'm at a loss and I really don't want to go back to using standard midi files for song construction.
Have emailed you a basic debug log and a full debug log during which the missing notes occured.
Again I hope you can help
Thanks Jerry

I know this is very frustrating but here is the problem: Jamstix is very demanding on the song positioning info coming from the host to properly compose/play notes. The combo of PT and RTAS wrapper is not as solid in that arena as a straight in-host usage. We have requested the right to develop a RTAS version but Digidesign has so far not responded
This is also the reason why we do not list PT as a confirmed host on our web site under the JS2 specs.
I wish I had better news but the RTAS wrapper is out of our hands and we are completely dependent on it. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph
Thanks for the reply
I thought this might be the case - maybe Digidesign will not be so precious in the future now that Strike isn't being developed further.
You will please re-apply for that license after JS3 comes out |
