|
|
Love the program, and it is now a regular part of my recording process.
But, a problem. The preset lists for intros, fills, and endings keeps acting funny. One day, I'll have all of the presets showing up. The next, there will be half of the list there. Then, all of a sudden, today there are none! And so the song I loaded now does not play any fills, where it did before!
I guess I need to figure out how to keep my new drummer (jamstix) off the booze and forgetting how to play drums.
Help!
I'm using jamstix as a directxer item in Sonar version 4. Everything else works fine.
Any ideas? I would hate to have to uninstall/reinstall, because it would be a drag to have to do that every time the presets start disappearing.
Thanks. |

As a followup to my previous post...
When I made the post (just a few minutes ago) my Sonar project was still open, with no presets showing up. So, I closed the Sonar project, then re-opened it. Now, ALL of the presets are showing up again. But! The fills are not the same ones I chose before. It must be an index thing. I probably worked on the fills to this song when I had half a list of presets. I don't know. But, now I have to go through the whole song and tweak the fills again (to get them sounding the way I want them to). What a pain.
EDIT: Got the fills sorted out, and the song is ok now. I closed the project, and started a new one, and got an access violation. See the following screenshots. After closing the access violation dialog, I'm still able to use jamstix, with no obvious problems. And the full presets lists are still showing up.

The lists will vary based on the funkiness/complexity slide position. I recommend locking fills you definitely want to keep so no changes to sliders later on can affect them.
However, lists should never be empty so there may be another issue here.
Please try the X4-9 beta and see if it helps:

Thank you!
Note that I edited a previous post to include screenshots of an access violation I'm getting once in a while. This access violation seems relatively benign in that I'm able to get jamstix to work after closing the error popup.
I'll try the beta version. Thanks again.
P.S. regarding the disappearing presets. I had been messing around with "MIDI out only". That seems to be a state memorized by jamstix. For example, if you set jamstix mapping to "MIDI out only", then quit the host and re-open an old project that was created without using "MIDI out only", jamstix will still be in "MIDI out only" mode---this could be where the fill list is left blank, even after turning off the "MIDI out only" feature. I'll see if I can re-create the problem. EDIT: tried. unable to re-create the problem. |

Hey Dyonisos --
Is there anything specific you do when you get the access violation? I'll get a string of such violations in Tracktion if I hit record, but forget to ensure that the Jamstix track is armed for recording. After I get one, I'll get them pretty much every time I hit record in the same session. Oddly, though, Tracktion still records.

Hi, there. No, I get mine immediately after adding jamstix as a dxi instrument (I'm using directiXer).
