Tell me if I misunderstand the manual (page 38 )...
I want to use my DAW (REAPER) to get basic drum track: Bass drum and snare mostly. I'm not even using JS to lay this foundation.
Then send those MIDI notes to another track where JS is and use the LEARN function in the Groove editor so it embelish my quite basic track that will be muted.
Is it suppose to work? If not, is there some workaround to lay basic tracks outside of JS?
A simple bullet point tutorial would be great!
Thanks in advance!

I think the easiest way is this: load a style whose hihats/toms/cymbals you like. Now click the 'Kick' and 'Snare' labels in the brain and choose 'Disable' so they will ot be played. This will give you a combo of your kick/snare track in the host and the rest played by Jamstix.
Alternatively, you can save the kick/snare in the host to a MIDI file and then use a groove importer in JS2 via the brain menu to add the MIDI file to a style you like. You'll still have to disable any interfering kick and snare elements in the brain, of course. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
