yesterday I had half of a song all done with original base groove, fills, accents etc. Today I opened the project and it all disappeared, poof!

this has never ever happened to me (i've been using JS since version 1)

I just started using reaper v3 and i'm using JS beta 5 so I wonder which one is to blame

I regret not saving a JS song file Sad

Bummer! Sad

Itīs been a while since i used Reaper.
Are there any other POOFS mentioned in the Reaper forums?
Reminds me of a time when Cubase SX (3 I think) used to vanish regularly...

Once in a blue moon, Jamstix can get a bit fussy with Reaper. I think Ralph has said somewhere that Reaper handles files/processing a little differently from most hosts. He seems to have cleared up most of the problems, but every now and then...*poof* Crying or Very sad

Having said that, I'm sloooowly climbing up Jamstix's steep learning curve. Although the GUI is not to my liking, I'm taming the beast and it is revealing itself to be a work of genius. The ability to change the accent of a bar just to freshen up a rhythm and keep it life-like, irrespective of the under-the-hood tiny changes in velocity and timing that Ralph has so cleverly woven in, is proving to be a lot of fun. There's still a lot to learn but I'm prepared to put up with infrequent glitches because the end result is worth it. Cool

I hope you don't have any more problems. Bummer indeed!

That should not happen. You may be able to recover an auto-save in the 'revisions' folder. Let me know if this happens again. If you want to be double-sure, click the disk icon in JS2 before shutting down REAPER or closing the project to get an auto-save point.

well, it happened again. I opened a project with JS and it did the disappearing act. (but this time I had it saved as a JS song file. yay!)

the interesting thing is, when I hit play in Reaper 3 none of the other tracks played, total silence. after pulling the saved song data back into JS all the tracks played again

how's that for weird?!

anyone else using JS in Reaper 3?

You are welcome to my Jamstix jamstix2.ini which means I have to use the Ctrl key when pressing Save or Save-as in Reaper and also I save my JS kits and the JS drum part in JS as well and also have to press the Ctrl key when doing this.

Also I have a folder called,"ReaperSongs" and make sub folders with the names of the songs and in Reaper also have the File/Save-as Move all media into project directory ticked. This keeps all the files related to the songs in their respective folders.

When I finish my songs I consolidate them in Reaper using the .ogg format at 1.00 quality to compress the size and then zip them and save them on an 8 gig USB flash stick and also from time to time a CDR/DVD disk.

HTH Smile
