Has anyone been able to work this into jamstix?
I've just started a track in 15/8 but the maximum jamstix will handle is 13/8.
Not sure how best to proceed - i tried creating one part of 8/8 and then one of 7/8 but programming it in this way is going to create too many parts.
any ideas? |

Depending on your song structure, you may be able to use the song looping introduced with the latest Beta to cycle through two parts of 4/4 and 7/8.
Also, Jamstix 3 will support up to 16/8. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

thanks Ralph,
I've just been exploring the liveloop function, which I've previously not ever used.
This looks like the way to go,
but is there a way of introducing some variation (besides the power control) as all I'm getting now is the two bars repeated exactly the same? |

ok here's what I'm doing along with some problems, (perhaps related to 2..5.2 beta 5)
I'm using one bar (part) of 9/8, followed by one bar (part) of 6/8, then two more parts of the same to get a two whole bars of 15/8 in cubase.
I've noticed that the sequence cycles anyway, therefore I don't need to use livel loops. Either way, I can use midi cc to control some elements including power, but also accent complexity, hi-hat openness, etc. etc.
one thing though Ralph, I notice that none of the sounds play on the first downbeat of all the bars. I've tried setting the priority high and also "forcing hits" on that beat, but to no avail.
Also, (perhaps another beta 5 issue), I notice that when the gui is open on jamstix, and i try and open my host mixer or other drop downs in the host, they suddenly disappear and I need to keep clicking to arrest them. |

Is that only when the loop is executed?

That's weird. Let me check into that. Do you have nView enabled? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph,
the first beat issue happens with the loop both on and off.
The graphics issue -
nView - that's a graphics option right, for operating two monitors? I've looked on my system for it, but I don't seem to have it. I did a file search, and had a nose around the display options - but couldn't see anything relating to nView or nVidia.
Something else, I've now realised that this only happens when the part in jamstix moves on to the next part. I notice also, that the bar editor takes a long time to appear once it has moved through to the following bar. So, with my consecutive looped two bar phrase to make 15/8, this display issue is a pretty constant gripe. Once the gui is closed it does not affect the host.
I also tested this with straight 4/4 option in both host and jamstix and the same happens, (just when the part crosses over into the new part). |
