An instance of Jamstix is already in the project and running fine with BFD2...but I can't get a midi track to record the jam?! I went into the synth panel and checked out the Jamstix properties but when I check " allow midi output" it won't save that preference?

Is there a way to force this or do I need to save the song and kit and re insert jamstix and BFD to get the midi output option?

Make sure 'Enable MIDI Output' in JS2 'Options' is checked. Other than that it sounds more like a Sonar issue.

Do you mean inside JS2 or in Sonars synth window? I'll have a look tonight but I guess worst case scenario is saving the song/kist combo and loading it in to a properly re-installed JS2 instance....

I'm having the same problem with Jamstix 2.5.1 and SONAR 8.3.1.

I think I've enabled everything I need to. "Enable MIDI Out" is selected in the SONAR dialogue when Jamstix is inserted, and "Enable MIDI Out' is selected in the Jamstix Options.

The MIDI Out light in Jamstix is blinking, but no input shows ups in an armed SONAR MIDI track set to receive Jamstix 2 on the channel selected for the instrument.

You say this sounds like a SONAR problem; do you mean that this is a known problem when using Jamstix with SONAR?

What I mean is that MIDI output support for VSTi is a feature that was only recently implemented in Sonar and is still not as smoothly done as in many other hosts. You have set your JS2 properly. If you don't see MIDI record in the Sonar MIDI track then something is not setup properly on the Sonar side.

Thanks.

I've posted the question on SONAR's forum as well. If I find a fix, I'll report it here.

I have managed to make JS2 (2.5.2 beta3) output MIDI and SONAR 8.3.1 recording the MIDI output.

I had to enable MIDI output in JS2, same in SONAR synth rack for the JS2 instance and selected Jamstix2 as track input in the MIDI track.

Then armed the track, started record and after recording it was there.

But... some hihats are playing wrong (too open) even though SONAR correctly recorded CC#4 events.

Something wrong?

Mario, when you are playing back the MIDI track, make sure 'Map GM' is NOT checked and that 'Reverse Hihat Control' is NOT checked in the JS2 Options.

Looks like "Reverse Hihat Control" is the one, though it was on and I had to switch it off to have the recorded data playing as expected.

Can't say when and if I enabled it...but it wasn't surely intentional.

Thanks,
Mario

I can confirm that under 32-bit SONAR, Jamstix MIDI output is picked up fine.
