Is there a way to get JS2 to play a gradual crescendo in its intensity of playing over about 16 bars? Ideally would like the sense of improvisation to gradually increase over the bars overlaid on a basic pattern.

I'd put a VST automation envelope on 'Power Level' (or MIDI controller on song power knob) and raise it in the host via an envelope over the 16 bars. The reduction logic of the drummer (all except Charlie, Machine) will simplify/reduce rhythms in the lower power range.

You could also try splitting the 16 bars into 4 x 4 bars, 8 x 2, or 16 single bar parts and adjusting the amount of Accents so there are slightly more each time.
