New user . . . starting to see some of the light Cool . . . but sometimes need some "dark black shades" as Mr. Gibbons likes to say . . .anyway . . . onweird . . .

From the manual . . . p.16 . . . if your host supports VSTi MIDI output routing, you can record the output of Jamstix to MIDI track in your host and edit it . . .

So I guess this means that you can introduce automation to a version of your song you have recorded as a midi file . . . I suppose this would be best done in Manual jam mode, and that the "level" envelop edits would have the effect of controlling the power level dial, thus enabling the choices that are made by this dial.

Maybe I have this all wrong . . . whadaya think? Whatever the case, I haven't been able to get it right in Reaper. Specifically, the recorded midi doesn't seem to play back, just the original jamstix track. And any edits I do on the midi part don't graphically change the envelope or actually change the sound.

Anyone have a step by step on how to . . . would be enormously appreciated.

I'm using the 4 (stereo I think) out routing with ambiance on the last out. Is it normal that the ambiance not produce a level on the reaper track meter, and is it likely still working if not (should have solo'd to check)? down mix is off.

Make a drum track in JS using the Jam no Input and let it play through to the end.To make it easy for now just load one of the Standard songs like the rock one and cut the number of repeats down to a couple so it's a short example say total of 16 bars and remove the Intro so it starts straight away.

Once it's played through grab the small Song icon in the JS Song/Midi editor page and drag and drop it onto the Track that you have JS on and change form Jam No Input to Drum Module mode in JS.Make sure the Big Power knob control is at least at around 9'O'Clock on that page as well.
You will now have the track as a standard midi file which can be editied in Reaper's midi editor and also automation applied.
I tended to do this when I 1st started using JS but I tend to do all my work in JS now as I'm more familiar to how it works.
