Not sure if I've seen this method of working suggested before. Create a 4 bar midi clip/part in your sequencer with a note on each beat (say) - all the same pitch. Set the velocity of each note to 80 and then label the clip "80".
Repeat the process for other velocities - 90, 100, 127.
Place/copy them as you require on the Jamstix virtual instrument track and you can control when you want JS to play strongly or softly without mapping controllers and recording the power knob and stuff.

Step-time jam with midi.
