Hi all..........
Upgraded to Sonar Studio 7 a month or 2 back and had real hassle getting it to recognise my plugins - particularly Jamstix (2.2.1)
I knew I wasn't the only one from other postings. I resolved the issues bit by bit simply from uninstalling/re-installing several times. Can't really say what the problem was - but that's how it is with software, isn't it?
Now trying to start learning Jamstix for real and have just tried some jamming with audio. Set 'levels in' via my EMU 0404 soundcard software and checked Jamstix levels so that loudest play just hits max on Power Knob. All OK until I stop playing guitar or play more quietly. I expect the Power Control Knob to move anticlockwise to just tickover, but it stays up around max and drum volume stays high. In short, it responds to my initial increase in play volume but does not then respond to decrease in play volume.
I've tried playing with the 'Min Dynamic' slider and the 'Trim Input' slider. The only time it responds is if I slide Trim Input to 0, or hit the 'stop record' in Sonar.
I'm already thinking this is another of those software glitches (Sonar 7) that will require yet another uninstall/re-install. But before I go to all that hassle again - anyone out there see an obvious oversight on my part?? I might have had Jamstix a while but I haven't used it regularly enough to become familiar.
Also.......... Audio M8 registers a low input signal (quarter way into the green) even though my 0404 soundcard patchmix software signals just under 0db. I seem to remember a workaround back in JS 1.8 days.
Cheers for any help.

Please try getting the signal up in audioM8 by trimming the audio going into it in the Sonar audio track. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hey Ralph.....
Thanks for the quick response.
Having got today's work out of the way, I've just fired up Sonar 7 and checked all my levels with particular attention to Patchmix DSP which is my EMU 0404 soundcard software -just as I did before posting yesterday.
Added some gain on the input trim - just as I did yesterday, only this time I saw AudioM8 needle move up into yellow and when I stopped playing or played more quietly, I saw jamstix Power Knob move back down and drums played softer - just as you designed it.
Hand on heart - nothing different between yesterday and today.......... or was there something......
I've fired up Sonar 7 over 3 dozen times since upgrading and working through the plugin problems and at no point did I get a Windows DEP warning as it scanned my VST plugins............ until just now. I ticked the relevant box allowing VST scans. Could this have been why JS2 was not behaving 100% ???? or just another case of power down and walk away for an hour until the gremlins give up ??!!
I don't post much, but as I do I will thank you each time for a fantastic product. Best get used to it quickly now before you hit us with the Percussion Pack. Smiles all round.
Cheers..... T-Break |
