I've finally managed to get set up again after moving house. (Moved house on the day that jamstix came out!)
I've been playing with Jamstix to get used to all the wizzy new features, and tried adding it to an existing jazz-style arrangement.
Turning on shuffle got Jamstix playing quite happily, but the fills sound like they are still in duplet rhythms rather than triplets.
Is it possible to get Jamstix to push the fills into tripets as well when the shuffle mode is on?
BTW, I had another (half finished) arrangement in 6/8 time with very syncopated guitar parts - Jamstix came up with a great funky track that sits very well with the style of the arrangement. I might let you hear it some time....

Good to know you're finally situated, John!

We found that many fills sound awkward when put through the shuffle logic. So we added some fills that are only for shuffle and marked others that (we thought) worked in shuffle and non-shuffle. This isn't perfect and we need to expand on that.
We'll send you a version in a few days that feeds all fills through the shuffle logic so you can tell us what you think.

How do I tell which fills work with shuffle and which don't? Have I missed something obvious?
You could get the brain to filter the correct style and add a habit that turns the filter on or off.
Shame I've had to miss the deadline for the demo competition, Jambace sounds very interesting. Want any other (commercial s/w developer) beta testers for it?!!!

The filter is automatic. What you see is what it allows.

JamBace is not in beta, yet. We'll keep you posted on it. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

John,
please try the new Jamstix beta X4-1 available here:
http://rayzoon.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=385
If you add the line 'ShuffleAccents=1' (w/o apostrophes) to the [General] section of your jamstix.ini file, accents are passed through the shuffler. Maybe this will give you better results for what you're after.
We also changed some of the shuffler logic itself. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Thanks for the new beta. Hopefully I'll give it a spin over the weekend (wife and small children permitting!) |

OK, I've given it a go. The fills appear to sit much nicer in the mix. Thanks very much.
BTW, it was very interesting hearing Jamstix adjust itself to the groove the very first time I loaded it. I put it into shuffle mode immediately, then started the track. It started off playing completely outside the rhythm then over a few bars got into the groove. I was very impressed! |
