Live creation of midi parts- I'm not getting it

I'm an idiot or I just don't get this. I have used Jamstix for a couple of months by building parts by hand in the editor bar by bar. I can't figure out how to record my live midi controlled pad hits. Can Jamstix output a live midi scroll of notes like any other vst instrument? If it can, I sure can't figure it out for Cubase 4. If someone could list some steps it would be awesome!

Disregard. I'm not an idiot but it sure works the way I want it to now. I think a combination of an earlier Cubase 4 version(4.1) and Jamstix 2.0 may have been the culprit. Cubase 4.1.3 and Jamstix 2.2.1 works great!
