Hi Ralph,
finally we can get into the details
I've had some problems in getting Jamstix running under Cubase SX.
First: If you install it to the suggested folder you won't get it running at all because the files won't be found in countries other than English speaking ones. I had to re-install the demo to get it running ...
Second: The manual is not too good explaning how to get the VSTi connected using Cubase SX - how does one have to set a "MIDI-echo" ...
Third: I would prefer a pdf-file for the manual. I like to get printouts of such files to look into a real paper-book rather than browsing through lots of screens in html ...
But those are all no severe problems - there's a much more important one: The voice telling me all those limitations is way too sexy
I probably won't buy the program just to keep her saying "I like drumming with you!" _________________ Frank

As far as we know, Cubase SX cannot route an audio signal to a VSTi (VST instrument). It assumes that only VST plugins should process audio. This means you can only use MIDI to jam with Jamstix in realtime.
Of course, you can also still use the arrangement functions of Jamstix to assemble drum tracks and then use a velocity automation envelope to 'interact' with Jamstix.
If you really want to audio jam with Jamstix, take a look at Sonar 4 and Tracktion. They can route audio to a VSTi and we have tested audio-jamming with both of them successfully.
Finally, we are thinking about another way to make audio-jamming work in Cubase and other hosts without audio routing. This involves running a VST plugin that analyzes the audio data and sends the results to Jamstix bypassing the host. Stay tuned... |
ok sounds good to me......Thanks for the great support... |

Thanks for AudioM8...
But I am having some issues when playing a live instrument(Bass)
I can't seem to Keep a good input level with free jam..
The Velocity slider seems very sensitive and stays spiked when the Volume of the bass is coming down....
AudioM8 seems very jumpy and holds a high level and or Jamstix does not come back down gradually enough...
It's either full drums or nothing.....Thanks |

Please experiment with the audio trim button to see if you can't find a better balance. I personally jam a lot with a bass and I always adjust by playing the bass as loud as I am going to play it and turning the audio trim down until it just hits full velocity and the P LED stays lit. That's pretty much it, I do probably adjust my play style a bit to match Jamstix but not much. I also slide up the MIN VELOCITY slider in the control panel so the drums never fall under a certain minimal level even if the audio drops low.
Let me know if this helps any. We are also planning on offering non-linear response curves in audioM8 but not until after 1.0 _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi cctaylor, nice bass riff!
Without timing info it's hard to synch things up, remember that Jamstix always synchs to the host, not to the speed you are playing.
When I imported your wave, Sonar compressed it into a 100BPM measure, that's why it sounds faster and higher than your original wave.
I also had to shift it two beats forward since the 3 in your groove felt like the 1 to me. Anyhow, here are two quick free jams:
Busy Groove With Jamstix Sounds
Simpler Groove With DFHS Superior
Hope this helps! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Yes I really like the groove with DFHS..Thanks
I am realy just getting use to Jamstix.....
I now know that it plays with the host and not the tempo of the groove..
Again Perfect support..... |

Hi,
Firstly, thanks for a great product. I downloaded the minimal demo and installed it under Cubase SX3.01. As soon as I loaded the demo into a virtual instrument slot I got an error message, namely:
"Access violation at address 77F92373 in module NTDLL.dll. Write of address 00000010."
Any action I took with the demo resulted in the same response. I am running this on a Windows 2000 Sp4 system using an AMD Athlon XP 2400+, 1.2gb RAM.
Cheers,
Andrew |

Hi Andrew, do you have another host that you can test your Jamstix installation with? For instance, MiniHost is a quick way to check a plugin. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

andrew,
I get this too, only when toggling the jamstix on and off.
I wonder if our systems have anything in common. I see you are running windows 2000. I am running XP SP2, 2 gig RAM, SX 3.0.1, BFD, UAD-1, Hammerfall 9652, waves plugins.

Zauni,
I will check this in MiniHost and get back to you. Thanks for the quick response by the way. |
