For the Jamstix samples one choke key works fine - but with my recently purchased BFD2 (GREAT sounds!!) you need a seperate key for each cymbal you want to choke.
Or is there a workaround?

Add this section to the end of your jamstix2.ini file:

[BFD2]
CC4=1
CH_15=58
CH_16=15
CH_17=14

This will enable the MIDI key #58 to choke 'Crash 1', #15 to choke 'Crash 2' etc. These are the default choke keys in the BFD2 kit that comes with Jamstix 2. Unfortunately, Jamstix 2.2.2 will only allow choke keys from #15 through #25 so you'd have to change the keys in the BFD2 kit to stay in that range and then change it in the ini as well. Alternatively, wait for the next Beta which will eliminate the key range limit so it will work right away.

Hi Ralph,

honestly I don't understand how to use the changes with beta 6 - the keymap in Jamstix 2 now shows "Cymbal Choke #0 --" instead of the former value. I loaded the keys from Jamstix' BFD2 Vistalite preset. Was that the mistake?

If you add this section to the jamstix2.ini:

[BFD2]
CC4=1
CH_15=58
CH_16=15
CH_17=14

then those keys will override the key setting in the kit editor. Just load the BFD2 kit that comes with JS2 and try it out.

Did that. Do I have to use midi notes #58, #15 and #14 to trigger the choke, or is there a way to assign those keys within jamstix?
When I do as you said and use the choke in the bar editor it triggers BFD's cowbell. I also tried different key maps from BFD but with now success.

btw: It is sunday, Ralph! You shouldn't work today, though I'm really glad (and even more impressed) that you answered my post!

Please send me your jamstix2.ini (just in case...).

Also, try using the choke key in the bar editor versus sending it via MIDI. Simply place the choke event on the opposite limb of the limb that you want choked. It will automatically use the appropriate choke key based on whether the last event on the other limb was Crash 1,2 or 3.

I'm sorry, I just didn't think - I used the same limb for the choke. Please don't ask me why I didn't try to use the other limb or why I was too stupid to see that a real drummer would use the other limb to choke (well, at least most of the times)...
Now I did as you said and used the other limb. It works with 3 different cymbals, that's all I testet so far. You made me happy again! Smile
Thank you very much indeed!
