Hi
I have been using JS2 in Live 7 and when I start a song JS2 will not start playing until I open the JS window. I can leave it closed and change the tempo of the song and it will start playing. Also, when I try to remove JS from the instrument track, Live crashes. JS2 triggers and works fine in Tracktion. I am using JS 2.2.1.
Thanks

This is odd. I have not had any problem with JS 2.2.1 and Live 7.03.
Jamstix definitely SHOULD play when it´s set to "Jam-No Input" and there´s a style and drummer selected. |

Hi
I am using jam with audio and the m8 plug inserted on a channel. Am I doing something wrong? It acts as if it were working but no sound.
Thanks

Please send me the file rzdlog.txt from the Jamstix 2 folder for review. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I've had the same thing using jam with audio in 7.03.It's intermitant,in as much as when I've closed Ableton and gone in again it's worked. You bring up the Jamstix window and it'l start, next time it wont.It seems to have a mind of it's own,the same as when I reported some time back on drum mappings in a multi channel setup. Some time it saves and some it doesn't.Checking on the Ableton forum there does seem to be quite a few bugs being reported,so hopefully 7.05 will have them ironed out.I'm sure it's Ableton 7 at fault.I remember 5 having a lot of glitches,6 being pretty stable.I've stayed with 7 because I want to see if I can get anything going with drum racks. _________________ EMU 1820M user |

That is what I noticed. I just tried again and opened a song, it opened and would not play JS right off the bat so I went to open another song and live crashed, no warning, just gone. I think it is more of a live issue?
Ralph, I am sending you the log from this resent crash... thanks for the superb support!!!!

Just installed Live 7.0.5 and no crashes yet:) JS still doesn't start when Live starts. I open js when live is playing and js starts. Seems to be a breakdown in communication... the story of my life:)
I also noticed when js window is closed and program is idle the cpu meter sits at 3 - 4% and when js is open the meter kind of goes crazy and jumps from 19-36% back and forth really fast. Maybe it's supposed to? |

Oh good,7.05 out.Cheers Jeromee .One of the clever things about Live is the CPU is idle until you start using any plug in.I think Bonzo's needed for the communication breakdown. _________________ EMU 1820M user |

I seem to remember in a previous thread, Ralph mentioning that Ableton will not play a vst instrument like Jamstix if it runs silent for a certain length of time - unless the vst(i)'s gui is open. Could this be the problem here? A lot of JS intros do seem to start with a bar and a half of silence before the fill kicks in.
If so, how about adding a zero velocity note at beat one bar one to tell Ableton to wake up? If not, please pardon my intrusion. |

I am glad it worked. In that case I will pass on another experience I had.
If you drag and drop the composed JS2 song PARTS into Live clips (quite a nice thing to do) - only do this once you have played the JS2 song through to the very end. Otherwise you might encounter the odd missing midi note. This is due to the way the JS2 AI works.
I was re-editing/re-composing some bars before drag/droppping. This caused a problem sometimes in the bar I stopped on.
Once dragged and dropped (with the clips then set to loop for the correct length) you will probably wish to put JS2 into drum module mode by clicking the down arrow. If you wish to come back out of drum module mode click the up arrow OR take note of where the JS2 power knob mode is - currently if you cycle through modes it can forget its position. This is something Ralph is aware of. |
