Hey all,
[Edit:]
I had a few problems as detailed below but I managed to fix everything. Now Jamstix is working 100% with the Version 2.2.1 . Here is what I did (very easy fix I know but I had forgotten how to re-install everything as I had upgraded from version 1.x
Before I did anything, I backed up the entire Jamstix and Jamstix2 folders
1. Deleted the original Jamstix and Jamstix2 folder
2. Installed Jamstix 1.8.x
3. Copied licence file into the Jamstix folder
4. Copied all of the original Drum PAK's (epak, snare pak, brushes pak etc) into the "Addons" folder
5. Started Reaper and Jamstix. Tested - Working OK. All kits available
6. Closed Jamstix/Reaper
7. Installed Version 2.0
8. Copied the Jamstix 2 licence file into the Jamstix2 folder
9. Started Reaper/Jamstix 2
10. From the "Kit" Screen used the "Install Pak" button to install the "Stock Kit"
11. Tested Jamstix 2 - Multi Outs were not working properly but there were NO missing kits
12. Closed Jamstix/Reaper
13. Installed Jamstix 2.2.1 update
14. Tested Jamstix - Multi Outs are now working perfectly in Reaper and all kits are working in "Preview" mod.
SUCCESS!!!!! I don't know if this was the correct way to re-install but it worked. If there is a "How to re-install Jamstix" FAQ somewhere, please point me to it as if I need to do this again, it would be great if there were an easier way. See below for my original problems with Jamstix.
Previous Post of Problem:
I'm in a bit of a mess. I've just installed the 2.2.1 update and now I can not get any sound out of Jamstix in any new project I create. Old projects work fine. I'm using a registered copy of Reaper 2.201 (which has been working fine creating new projects with Jamstix for the last few weeks). I've tried building mulit outs or just stereo. Jamstix does not follow the Reaper project. Jamstix does not move from bar to bar (as it normally does). I'm no expert on Jamstix but I have been using it for around 2 years now. The padlock icon does not seem to make any difference.
Ok so I backup my jamstix and jamstix2 folders (I upgraded from Jamstix 1.x), delete them, and try a fresh install of just version 2. Seemed like a good idea at the time. The installation worked fine and I was not prompted for any licencing info, which leads me to my first question?
1. Where is the licencing info kept? I have my original serial number for version 1.x . Do I need to install version 1.x and use my original licence key? Or is my licence info kept somewhere where I can back it up?
Ok so with version 2.0 installed and licenced automatically I proceed to install my drum packs via the "Install PAK" button which are as follows:
Drum Pak1
Drum Pak2
Stock Kit1
Stock Kit2
Snare Pak
Epak
Brush Pak
I restart Reaper and restart Jamstix 2, but now I am missing a whole pile of sounds. The default "Rock" Quickstart does not play. So I poke around to see where these sounds are actually kept. I \found drum sounds in the
\jamstix2\data\sounds
and I could manually create a drum kit with the sounds from here (right clicking on individual pieces of kit and choosing sounds that I could hear in the preview). In this way I was able to confirm that Jamstix 2.0 was working fine, just the sounds were missing. They simply did not exist in that directory.
The missing sounds were simply not there. I check out my backups and see that there are a whole pile of sounds in the
\jamstix\samples
This I guess is where the V.1 sounds where kept. So here is the question:
How do I do a nice clean re-installation of version 2.0 without version 1.x?
If that is not possible what is the recommended procedure to re-install everything? Can I just copy the contents of Jamstix\samples from my version 1.x backup and everything will be sweet????
But most of all I'm looking for a clear and easy re-installation process.
I did go back to my original download page because I saw a similar thread about default sounds missing because something like the "setup_data.exe" file was not installed and should be for the default sounds. I could not find this on my original downloads page. I tried to re-downloads some of the PAKs to see if this is my problem but the links seem to be expired and I couldn't find that file anyway. Recording for me is a small part time affair but I have real clients that I'm working with as an arranger and jamstix is an essential part of my business. I'm looking forward to getting this worked out as the thought of my clients arriving and I haven't got drums working is stressing me out big time.
Thanks in advance for you kind assistance
